If you want to keep on schedule, then get a Robbins Conveyor system. 60% of TBM world records for high speed tunnel excavation have been set using conveyors. Robbins conveyors have been used on more than 35 projects worldwide. While our specialty is continuously extending conveyors for use behind rapidly excavating tunnel boring machines, Robbins has also provided conveyors for drill and blast tunnels, mines and quarries. Regardless of your conveying needs, Robbins can provide a system that will keep your project on schedule. Every Project is Unique No two...
Open the catalog to page 2Robbins conveyor systems offer high reliability and high performance. A Robbins conveyor system can move more than a thousand tons of muck per hour through kilometers of twisting tunnel, up a 200 m shaft and to a stacker conveyor with the capacity to store several days' worth of production. And, at ■ Robbins, every conveyor is specifically engineered for rapid installation and efficient operation. Robbins conveyor engineers are specialists and are dedicated to the task. Our conveyor engineers have years of conveyor design experience and, at Robbins, conveyors are their only job. They are...
Open the catalog to page 3THE FLEXIBLE SOLUTION. Twin Surface Mounted Main Drives Horizontal Conveyors Robbins makes two different types of horizontal conveyors. Our simple single-drive, steel-cable-belt systems are perfect for straight tunnels. Our multi-drive, fabric-belt systems can carry muck through a tunnel with more curves than a snake. Both systems employ Robbins main drives, advancing tail pieces, belt storage cassette and belt splice stands. When driving a tunnel through curves, your conveyor system will also require booster drives and our Splice Stand Main Drive patented self-adjusting curve idlers....
Open the catalog to page 4GET THE MUCK OUT. Whether your tunnel is as straight as an arrow or has more curves than a mountain road, you’ll need the following components for your horizontal conveyor system. Main Drive The main drive supplies the initial force needed to move the belt and its load. It is usually located near the tunnel portal. If the tunnel is being driven from a shaft, then the main drive can be on the surface or at the bottom of the shaft, depending on the project constraints. Robbins offers drives with a wide range of power, which are offered in either fixed speed or variable frequency control...

Will the storage cassette be located in the tunnel or on the surface? Do you need 300, 400 or 500 m of belt storage capacity? We can provide a belt storage cassette to meet your needs. The Robbins belt storage cassette will ensure that the proper belt tension is maintained at all times — during startup or shutdown, with a full or an empty belt. Belt Splice Stand Robbins belt splice stands are designed to minimize your system downtime. With our continuous conveyor systems the only...
Open the catalog to page 6MORE CURVES If your tunnel has curves, then the Robbins multi-drive fabric-belt system is the solution. Robbins multi-drive fabric-belt conveyors employ our patented self- adjusting curve idlers to carry muck through tunnel curves with radii as small as 300 m. . Curve Idlers The load conditions are constantly changing. Conveyors run full of rock. They run empty and partially full. Robbins' patented self-adjusting curve idlers have a pivoting structure that facilitates the changing load conditions without reducing the carrying capacity or unnecessarily increasing belt tension as the conveyor...
Open the catalog to page 7OVER, UP, AND OUT. Verical Conveyors Robbins has two vertical conveyor designs: the traditional “S” type and our new “J” type. For a deep shaft application, use our steel cord belt “S” type conveyors. However, if you have a small diameter shaft our “J” type conveyor may be the economical solution you’ve been looking for. Robbins “J” type design offer the following advantages: • Belt tension is lower so supporting structure is lighter. • Belt path eliminates reverse bends and the need for “edge” rollers so cross-rigid belt is not required. • A fabric-core belt is used, which is readily...
