Product catalog summary
Applications: The Auger Boring Machine (ABM) is designed for utility installations in both soft ground and hard rock conditions. It is compatible with SBU products for hard rock applications and can handle various ground types including soil, sand, clay, cobble, glacial till, soft shale, and some sandstone.
Versatility: The ABM is a versatile solution for horizontal boring, capable of installing steel casing across roads, rivers, and railways. It operates by excavating with a cutting head and using hydraulic thrust cylinders for jacking force.
Specifications: The document details four models of ABM with varying bore capacities, engine types, power outputs, and thrust capabilities. Key specifications include:
  • ABM 36-630: Bore capacity of 12 to 36 inches, DEUTZ F6L914 engine, 114 hp, max thrust of 630,000 lb.
  • ABM 60-1270: Bore capacity of 24 to 60 inches, Cat C-7 engine, 250 hp, max thrust of 1,270,000 lb.
  • ABM 48-950: Bore capacity of 12 to 48 inches, DEUTZ BF6L914C engine, 174 hp, max thrust of 954,000 lb.
  • ABM 72-1500: Bore capacity of 24 to 72 inches, Cat C-9 engine, 300 hp, max thrust of 1,500,000 lb.
Ground Conditions: The ABM can operate in a range of ground conditions from soil to hard rock, with the ability to handle unconfined compressive strengths (UCS) from 4,000 to over 25,000 psi when used with SBU products.
Additional Information: The document includes contact information for The Robbins Company and highlights the machine's components such as the base frame assembly, sub frame assembly, master pusher, and more.

Auger Boring Machine (ABM) Technical Description The Robbins Auger Boring Machine (ABM) is used to bore horizontally through soil or rock with a cutting head and auger. ABMs are used to install steel casing on road, river, and rail crossings. A starting pit is used to launch the ABM on a predetermined length of track. The machine excavates with the cutting head, while jacking force is provided by hydraulic thrust cylinders. Steel casing pipe and auger sections are added as the machine advances. Spoil is removed from the auger through the casing to a door located on the side of the master pusher. A Versatile Solution The Robbins ABM can be used in a variety of ground conditions, from soil to hard rock. The machine is made for use with SBU Products in hard rock, as well as with soft and hard soil cutterheads. The ABM is capable of excavating soil, sand, clay, cobble, glacial till, soft shale and some sandstone. Both the SBU-A and the SBU-M are the ideal attachments to be used with the Robbins ABM in hard rock and mixed ground. ABM APPLICATIONS: • Soft ground utility installations • Hard rock utility installations (with SBU products) AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE OR LEASE
