Mounting Guidelines for RKB TQO/TQOS Bearings in Rolling Mill Applications
Preliminary Operations: Before mounting, measure the chock bore and shaft diameters in multiple planes and directions to ensure accuracy. Record these measurements and check for shape deviations. Lubricate all
bearing components as per the machinery design specifications to reduce wear and corrosion.
Specifications: RKB four-row taper
roller bearings in TQO configuration consist of two double cone assemblies, a central double cup, two single cups, and three spacers. These bearings can be configured with cylindrical or tapered bores, with or without seals, and with or without spacers. Proper lubrication and sealing systems are crucial due to harsh operating conditions.
Mounting Procedures:
Unsealed Bearings (TQO): Fasten the roll-side cover onto the chock, place the chock on level supports, and use a lifting device to mount the bearing assembly. Ensure proper seating with a feeler gauge, mount the chock cover, and tighten cap screws evenly. Measure the gap for gasket thickness, insert the gasket, and mount the cover. Align the chock with the shaft, mount seals, spacers, and tighten the nut to allow axial clearance.
Sealed Bearings (TQOS): Follow similar steps as for unsealed bearings, with additional attention to the O-type seal rings. Use a special clamping/lifting device for assembly and ensure proper seating and alignment.
Dismounting: Perform dismounting in reverse order of mounting using appropriate tools to avoid damage.
