Product catalog summary
Clamping Principle
The Bonded Disc Pack operates by sitting pre-loaded on the seating diameter of the seating body. When an axial actuating force is applied, the pack is raised to an upright position, centering and pressing the component against the shoulder ring or backstop. This movement converts the axial force into a radial clamping force, which can be up to ten times higher.

Features
  • Clamping diameters range from 18 mm to 140 mm.
  • High true running accuracy of ≤ 0.01 mm.
  • Permissible component tolerance up to IT11.
  • Options for short or long clamping lengths.
  • Pull-back against external backstop surface or ring is possible.
  • Suitable for thin-walled or solid components.
  • Hand clamping is optionally available.
  • Rubberized slots in the Bonded Disc Pack prevent foreign object ingress.

Configuration
The Bonded Disc Pack Flange Mandrel includes a seating body, shoulder ring, Bonded Disc Pack, thrust ring, and mushroom bush. An optional plate with a threaded bore is available for hand clamping. The mandrel is attached to the machine via the seating body, and the clamping fixture is actuated by the central bolt of the mushroom bush, which connects to the machine's power actuating unit. Different widths of Bonded Disc Packs can be installed based on the required torque.

Technical Specifications
The document provides detailed specifications for various sizes of Bonded Disc Pack Flange Mandrels (LBDF), including clamping diameters, maximum transmissible torque, and required actuating force. It also includes a table with dimensions and force requirements for different LBDF sizes.

Ordering Information
When ordering, specify the size of the Clamping Fixture, the clamping diameter of the component, including tolerance, and the desired bonded disc pack width. An example format is provided: LBDF 11-21,47H7-4.

Installation Situations
Details on installation situations, including backstop ring and surface options, are provided. The document also includes dimensions for achievable clamping diameters and maximum diameter changes.

LBDF series-1

Bonded Disc Pack Flange Mandrels LBDF Features • For clamping diameters from 18 mm to 140 mm • High true running accuracy ≤ 0,01 mm • Permissible component tolerance up to IT11 • Short or long clamping length possible • Pull-back against external backstop surface or external backstop ring by the customer • For thin-walled or solid components • Hand clamping optional possible • Impervious to ingress of foreign objects due to the rubberized slots in the Bonded Disc Pack Seating body Backstop ring (by customer) Shoulder ring The Bonded Disc Pack Flange Mandrel consists of a seating body, a shoulder ring, a Bonded Disc Pack, a thrust ring and a mushroom bush. A plate with a threaded bore is optionally available for hand clamping. The Bonded Disc Pack Flange Mandrel is attached to the machine with the seating body. The Clamping Fixture is actuated by the central bolt of the mushroom bush, which is connected to the machine power actuating unit. Depending on the required transmitted torque, Bonded Disc Packs of different widths may be installed. The required installation situations for the shoulder ring are shown in Fig. 27-2. Bonded Disc Pack Thrust ring Mushroom bush Intermediate Flanges and Spring Force Actuators are shown starting on page 58. 26-2 Clamping principle The Bonded Disc Pack sits pre-loaded on the seating diameter of the seating body. When axial actuating force is applied, the Bonded Disc Pack is raised to an upright position. The component is centred, pressed against the shoulder ring or the backstop and aligned flush. The tipping movement of the Bonded Disc Pack converts the axial actuating force into a radial clamping force that is up to ten times higher.
