Overflow and Pressure Relief Valves

Overflow and Pressure Relief Valves

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides detailed technical specifications and applications for Richter overflow and pressure relief valves, specifically the GU, GUT, and PRS series. These valves are designed for use in chemical plants to manage excessive pressure and prevent backflow in systems with low differential pressures.
Specifications:
  • Temperature Range: -60 to +180 °C (-75 to +360 °F).
  • Pressure Range: Set pressures up to 13 bar (189 psi) for GU, up to 16 bar (232 psi) for GUT, and 750 mbar (11 psi) for PRS.
  • Lining Options: PFA, antistatic PFA-L, and ultrapure PFA-HP for pharmaceutical applications.
Product Features:
  • GU Series: Direct acting, spring-loaded, gas-tight, with high discharge capacity and streamlined flow parts. Suitable for corrosive media and high discharge capacity applications.
  • GUT Series: Designed for very small mass flows, maintaining constant pressure in systems with small mass flows. Features proportional opening characteristics and high back pressure tolerance.
  • PRS Series: Prevents backflow in systems with low differential pressures, suitable for vapours, gases, and liquids. Features a compact design and vacuum-resistant lining.
Materials and Construction:
  • Body and components made from ductile cast iron, stainless steel, and PTFE compounds for corrosion resistance.
  • Optional materials include Hastelloy® and modified PTFE for enhanced performance.
Applications:
  • GU and GUT valves are used in chemical plants to safeguard against excessive pressure and maintain plant pressures.
  • PRS valves are used to prevent backflow in systems with low differential pressures, such as nitrogen blanketing systems.
Installation and Maintenance:
  • Valves are designed for easy maintenance with removable components and straightforward installation procedures.
  • Face-to-face dimensions and flange specifications are provided for ISO/DIN and ASME standards.

Overflow valves with high discharge capacity The spring-loaded Richter overflow valve GU is designed to protect against excessive pressure in shut-off pipes and plant components. Fields of application • As an overflow valve to safeguard chemical plants against excessive pressure • As a pressure relief valve to maintain plant pressures • For corrosive media where metallic materials are not resistant enough or special metals cause high costs • Predominantly for fluids Range of applications • -60 to +180 °C (-75 to +360 °F) operating temperature, higher temperatures on request • Depending on the...

© Bellows modified PTFE • Hermetic sealing to valve bonnet and atmosphere • Corrosion protection of the valve spindle • Back-pressure-balanced: back pressure has no effect on the set pressure, therefore operation also with variable back pressure • Considerably more permeation-resistant than standard PTFE © Replaceable valve plug and seat • Pressure-resistant PTFE carbon compound • Optionally pure PTFE, Hastelloy®, etc. © Axial needle bearing in the upper spring plate • No twisting of the bellows when setting the adjusting screw © Lifting cap • Gas-tight on request • Lifting lever positioned so...

Overflow and Pressure Relief Valves-5

Overflow valves for very small mass flows Fields of application The action of heat or chemical reactions may cause the medium to expand in shut-off piping systems and other plant components and so the system pressure can reach inadmissible values. In such cases the spring-loaded Richter overflow valve GUT reliably maintains a constant pressure, protecting the plant from damage. In view of the relatively small mass flows, the small, compact GUT, available in DN 25 (1“), is sufficient here. The GUT is not certified. Range of application • -60 to +180 °C (-75 to +360 °F) operating temperature •...

Components and materials series PRS Check and overflow valve for low differential pressures Fields of application The overflow valve PRS has been developed to prevent the backflow of vapours, gases and liquids in systems with low differential pressures. For example, a backflow in feed pipes for nitrogen blanketing can be prevented. Range of application • 750 mbar (11 psi) set pressure +/- 200 mbar (3 psi) • Reseating pressure 350-400 mbar (5-6 psi) Product features • Compact, inline overflow valve, DN 25 (1“) • Can be used at gauge pressure and vacuum for vapours, gases, liquids - certification...
