Air driven gas boosters

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Resato provides a variety of air-driven gas boosters, including single, double acting, and two-stage models, available in ATEX versions. These boosters are suitable for gases like Nitrogen, Helium, CO2, Argon, and Breathing air, operating on a differential area piston principle to convert compressed air into high-pressure gas flow.
Operating Principle
The boosters feature a large air-operated drive piston linked to a smaller gas piston, with high-pressure inlet and outlet check valves and a unique air-operated cycling valve for low noise. Cooling is achieved by routing cold exhausted air around the gas cylinder.
Advantages
Constructed with stainless steel and bronze, Resato boosters are durable and feature low-friction PTFE seals for longevity. Their simple design reduces noise and maintenance, with easy-to-replace check valve cartridges and high-pressure seals.
Benefits of Air-Driven Gas Boosters
These boosters enhance safety by minimizing risks of heat, flame, spark, or shock. They allow precise control of output pressure and flow by adjusting the air drive pressure, and are compact, easy to install, and maintain.
Operating Instructions
Control outlet pressure and flow by regulating air drive pressure. The booster cycles rapidly with high gas flow, slowing as outlet pressure increases, stopping when load balance is achieved, and restarting with a pressure drop or increased air drive pressure.
Selection Criteria
Choosing the right booster involves considering maximum output pressure, gas supply pressure, flow rate, air drive pressure, type of gas, and external conditions. Resato provides charts and a computer program for accurate selection.
Handling Dangerous Gases
Resato offers solutions for managing leaks with dangerous gases and can provide "oxygen clean" boosters on request.
ATEX Compliance
Resato boosters can be ATEX compliant for hazardous areas, with the user responsible for area classification.
Installation
Boosters can be mounted in any position, preferably horizontal for maintenance, requiring an air pressure regulator, oil lubricator, and filter/water separator in the air supply line.
Specifications and Performance
The document details specifications and performance data for various booster models, highlighting pressure ratios, stroke volumes, and connection types.
Technical Specifications Overview
  • Pressure Ratios and Compression: Models like B200-25-65 and B160-30-65 have pressure ratios from 1:25 to 1:180, with maximum compression ratios up to 1:80.
  • Stroke Volume and Pressure: Stroke volumes range from 11.3 cc to 125 cc, with minimal supply pressures starting at 2.3 bar and maximum outlet pressures up to 1330 bar.
  • Connections and Weight: Air and gas supply connections are typically 3/4'' BSP-F and 1/4'' NPT-F, with weights from 17.5 kg to 29 kg.
Performance and Flow Rates
  • Gas Flow: Maximum air flow (QA max) is specified at 4.2 Nm3/min for certain models, with varying supply pressures and air drive pressures.
  • Graphical Data: Graphs illustrate the relationship between outlet pressure and gas flow rates under different supply pressures.
Material Specifications
  • Air Section: Includes aluminum air pistons and cylinders, PTFE-based bearings, and stainless steel bolts.
  • High-Pressure Section: Utilizes bronze and stainless steel for cylinders and pistons, with ceramic balls in check valves.
  • Sealing: High-pressure seals are made from low-friction PTFE resins, suitable for various gases.
Additional Features
  • Air Controls: Essential for performance control, lubrication, and contamination prevention, with specific ordering codes for different ranges.
  • Exhaust Mufflers: Standard inclusion to reduce noise and contamination, with options for remote exhaust piping.
  • Mounting Brackets and Adapters: Options available for mounting and high-pressure connections, with specific ordering codes provided.

Suitable for many types of gases because all gas contacted parts of the high-pressure section are made of special selected stainless steel and bronze.Long working life of the seals because the gas boosters are standard provided with specially engineered polymer compounds based on low-friction PTFE resins for optimum piston sealing to accommodate use of a wide range of gases. Check valve cartridges can be replaced within minutes. Due to the use of ceramic materials for the check valves, long life operation can be guaranteed. The outlet pressure and fl ow can be controlled by regulating the air drive pressure with an air pressure regulator. When compressed air of a certain air pressure is applied to the gas booster, it will cycle at high speed producing high gas fl ow. As the outlet pressure increases, the gas booster will start to work at a lower rate. As long as the total load in the high pressure cylinder is less than that in the air cylinder, the gas booster will continue to run. When a balance of loads is reached, the gas booster stops and no more air is used. The gas booster will automatically restart when the...
