Adaptive TOK-Docking-System for Engine Testing

Product catalog summary
General Technical Description:
The TOK Docking System by REICH is designed to enhance productivity, reduce setup times, and lower operating costs in engine test benches. It automates the process of changing test objects for combustion engine testing, maximizing available testing time. The system uses a modular construction principle to connect various sizes of combustion engines to a dynamometer, simplifying engine testing.

Flexible Docking and Centering Fixture:
The system features a self-docking and self-centering fixture with a pin and sleeve, both straight-toothed, available in a standard size. This fixture allows for the preparation of additional engines while one is still being tested, minimizing rigging times as this is done outside the test bench area.

Self-Alignment and Self-Centering:
The centering attachments can compensate for up to 15 mm offset during docking. The engine with the mounted TOK coupling and toothed pins approaches the CV-jointed sleeve on the dynamometer side, which rests on a support and engages when lifted and turned.

TOK Coupling System:
REICH provides coupling shafts and highly torsionally flexible couplings for various combustion engines, supporting rotational speeds up to 10,000 min-1 and torque transmission from 100 Nm to 70,000 Nm, suitable for demanding test bench applications.

Salient Features and Advantages:
  • No complex mechanics or manual intervention needed on the dynamometer side.
  • Rigging occurs outside the test cell, reducing time-consuming assembly.
  • Supports rotational speeds up to 6,000 rpm.
  • All toothed shaft components engage in any turning position while maintaining balance.
  • Centering attachments are available as spare parts and are easily changeable.
  • The system can be extended to multiple test cells.

Advantages:
The system's self-centering feature eliminates the need for manual centering, and rigging times are minimized through simultaneous engine preparation.
