While ferrous metals are attracted by a magnetic field, non-ferrous metals experiences a repulsion effect. When non-ferrous metals pass through an alternating magnetic field, they generate internal currents (eddy currents). These currents create an opposing magnetic field, causing a repulsive force that deflects the material from its path, allowing it to be separated from other materials.
