ACT LVDT Displacement Transducer

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document provides technical specifications and descriptions for the ACT series of LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) displacement transducers manufactured by RDP Electrosense. These transducers are designed for high accuracy and reliability in position measurement applications.
Specifications:
  • Type and Range: The document lists various models (e.g., ACT500C, ACT1000C) with ranges from ±12.5mm to ±470mm.
  • Linearity Error: Less than ±0.5% of Full Scale (F.S.) for most models.
  • Dimensions: Length (L) and diameter (D3) vary by model, with total weights ranging from 10oz to 5.6lb.
  • Sensitivity: Varies from 0.7V/V to 3.6V/V depending on the model.
  • Excitation/Supply: Acceptable range is 0.5V to 7V rms, 2kHz to 10kHz; calibrated at 5V rms, 5kHz.
  • Temperature Coefficient: ±0.006% F.S. /°F for both zero and span.
  • Operating Temperature Range: -58°F to 257°F.
Design and Features:
  • Construction: Made from stainless steel for durability.
  • Resolution: Infinite resolution due to the LVDT principle, which ensures no electrical contact across the sensing element.
  • Versions: Available in unguided, captive, and spring return versions, each suited for different application needs.
Applications: These transducers are suitable for applications requiring precise position measurement, especially where high cycle life and robust performance are critical.

They make an accurate position measurement of the movement of the armature (the sliding part) relative to the body of the displacement transducer. This transducer uses the Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) principle which means that it is probably the most robust and reliable position sensor type available. The strength of the LVDT sensor's principle is that there is no electrical contact across the transducer position sensing element which for the user of the sensor means clean data, infinite resolution and a very long life. This series of displacement transducer is available as either an unguided, captive or spring return version. Captive guided version. Our captive guided displacement transducer has bearings to guide the armature inside the measurement sensor. Captive LVDTs are for position measurement applications where guidance may be poor and end bearings may be required. L X 0.81'' 0.94'' D3 TF M5x0.8 - 0 + M5x0.8
