Disclaimer: The catalog information is provided "as-is" for informational purposes, with no warranties regarding accuracy or completeness. All materials are protected by copyright laws.
Specifications: Detailed specifications for various bearings, including Fiberglide®/Fabroid® journal bearings, thrust washers, and spherical bearings, are provided. This includes dimensions, part numbers, and load capacities, designed for high load capacity and low friction.
Procedures: Installation procedures are referenced, with specific instructions on page 24, emphasizing smooth mating surfaces and proper fit for optimal performance.
Standards and Norms: Bearings conform to standards like AS81820 for load ratings, using aerospace-grade metals for high performance and durability.
Recommendations: Recommendations include using the hardest available mating surfaces and selecting corrosion-resistant materials. Consulting the engineering department is advised for applications exceeding standard specifications.
Key Data from Tables and Figures: Static load capacities, dimensions, maximum compressive strength, operating temperature ranges, and friction coefficients are detailed. Critical information includes maximum compressive strength (10,000 psi for phenolic backing, 38,000 psi for steel backing), operating temperature range (-320°F to 300°F), PV factor (Continuous 50,000, Intermittent 150,000), recommended surface hardness (45-50 Rc), and surface finish for mating components (16-32 µ inch).
Limitations and Best Practices: Emphasizes excluding dirt and abrasive particles to extend bearing life, with guidelines for running clearance and housing sizing for proper installation and performance.
Fluid Compatibility: Fiberglide®/Fabroid® bearings are compatible with most fluids in bearing applications, though dry bearing life may be reduced. They operate well in environments with hydraulic oils, mild acids, greases, gasoline, lubricating oils, detergent solutions, ammonium hydroxide, liquid nitrogen, seawater, toluene, and kerosene.
Comparative Testing Results: Tests show Fiberglide® and Fabroid® bearings outperform other types in load carrying capability and wear life under fixed loads with oscillating shafts.
Material and Performance: Fiberglide® A and Fabroid® G materials are suitable for most applications, with Fabroid® offering superior performance under high static and dynamic loads, extreme temperatures, and chemical resistance.
Installation Guidelines: Detailed installation instructions for journal bearings, thrust packs, and thrust bearings are provided, emphasizing the use of a stepped mandrel tool and smooth mating surfaces to prevent damage during assembly.
Product Overview: RBC Bearings offers a wide range of bearings, including spherical plain bearings, commercial rod ends, cam followers, ball bearings, airframe control bearings, dowel pins, needle roller bearings, self-lubricating bearings, thin section ball bearings, tapered roller bearings, and integrated assemblies. The company has been producing bearings in the USA since 1919 and provides engineering design assistance for custom applications.
