ATEX Compliance:
The products meet the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC for safe use in explosive atmospheres, with CE and Ex marks for equipment in hazardous locations.
Selection and Mounting:
Guidelines are provided for selecting worm gears and motors based on power, torque, and service factors, with formulas for calculating power and loads. Mounting options include base, flange, or torque arm.
Service Factors and Load Classifications:
Service factors are outlined for different load conditions, with tables for ambient temperature and fan presence affecting thermal ratings.
Control Points and Load Calculations:
Guidelines for calculating radial and thrust loads on gear shafts are included, with tables for maximum permissible loads.
Reversing and Self-Locking:
Dynamic and static self-locking features are explained, with recommendations for applications requiring braking time management.
Technical Data:
Detailed technical data for Benzlers worm gears, including ratios, lead angles, module, and efficiencies, are provided.
Specifications:
Specifications for worm gears and motors include sizes, ratios, configurations, output speed, torque, and service factors for different motor power ratings.
Efficiency Considerations:
Efficiency is crucial when selecting gears or motors, with lower efficiency at start-up improving after a run-in period. A formula for back-driving efficiency is provided.
Selection Guidelines:
Essential data for specifying a drive includes load designation, output power, speed, torque, and environmental factors, with assistance available from Benzlers specialists.
Mounting and Execution Codes:
Execution codes for different configurations are provided, with explanations of gear and motor codes.
Ordering Information:
Instructions for ordering include examples and required information such as output speed and motor power.
Tables and Data:
Extensive tables list output speed, ratio, service factor, output torque, permissible overhung load, size, weight, and dimensions for various motor sizes.
Load Designation:
Specifications for output power, speed, torque, overhung load, ambient factors, and more are outlined for proper equipment selection.
Product Safety Information:
Emphasizes safety in selection, installation, use, and maintenance, covering hazards like fire/explosion risks, noise levels, and electrical safety.
Installation, Maintenance, and Storage:
Equipment should be stored in a controlled environment if unused for over six months, with installation and maintenance following manufacturer instructions.
Selection and Design:
Gear units must avoid critical speeds and torsional vibrations, with continuous design improvements potentially changing specifications.
