Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the Radiall MM and MB series of miniature and subminiature rectangular multicontact connectors, designed for high contact density and rugged performance. These connectors comply with MIL-C-28748 performance requirements and feature male and female contacts made of copper alloy with gold over nickel plating. They offer various termination types, including solder pot, straight or right angle solder pin for PCB, and wire wrap, with guides for polarization.
Features
These connectors are suitable for civil and military applications, including in-flight equipment and instrumentation. They are adaptable for cable-to-cable applications with cable clamp backshells.
MM Series Overview
The MM series includes six sizes with contact arrangements for 7 to 50 size 22 contacts. Termination options include solder pot for wire, straight and right angle solder pins for PCB, and wire wrap. They are equipped with rack guides or jackscrews and can have protective coverings.
MB Series Overview
The MB series offers twelve sizes with contact arrangements for 2 to 75 size 20 contacts. Termination options are similar to the MM series, and they can be protected by top or side entry backshells or potting covers.
Technical Characteristics
Both series conform to MIL-C-28748 and UTE-C-93426 HE611 standards. They have a current rating of 5A, test voltage of 1000 Vrms, and operating voltage of 350 Vrms at sea level. They operate in temperatures from -55°C to 125°C and withstand 500 mating cycles, 100g shock, and 20g vibration.
Ordering Connectors
Connectors are identified by series, contact arrangement, contact type, termination style, and guides or jackscrews. Specific part numbers are printed on the insulator side.
Contact Arrangements and Termination Styles
Contact arrangements vary by series, with specific dimensions provided. Termination styles include solder pot, straight and right angle solder pins, and wire wrap, with specific notes on PCB drilling requirements.
Guides and Jackscrews
Guides and jackscrews are available in various types and threads, with specific configurations for male and female connectors. They are not available for certain termination styles.
Panel Cut-Out and Mating Compatibility
Dimensions for panel cut-outs are provided for different contact arrangements. Compatibility with backshells and termination styles is detailed.
Backshells
Backshells are available in top and side entry types, designed to protect soldered connections and provide strain relief. They are made of yellow anodized aluminum alloy and are compatible with specific guides and jackscrews.
Product Overview
The document provides detailed specifications and guidelines for the MB series connectors, which conform to MIL-C-28748 performance standards. These connectors are designed for high reliability in various applications, offering features such as a current rating of 7.5A, test voltage of 1500 Vrms at sea level, and operating voltage of 500 Vrms at sea level. The connectors are durable for up to 500 mating cycles and can withstand temperatures from -55°C to 125°C.
Mechanical and Environmental Specifications
The connectors are made from materials such as glass-filled diallylphthalate for insulators, copper alloy with gold over nickel for contacts, and stainless steel for guides and jackscrews. They are designed to endure shocks of 50g/11ms and vibrations of 20g/10-2000 Hz, with a humidity resistance of 21 days and a salt spray resistance of 48 hours.
Termination Styles and Dimensions
The document outlines various termination styles, including solder pot (type 85), straight solder pin for PCB (type 86), and right-angle solder pin for PCB (type 87). Detailed dimensions for different contact arrangements are provided, ensuring compatibility with specific applications.
Guides and Jackscrews
The connectors can be equipped with different types of guides and jackscrews, such as rack guides (G1), fixed jackscrews (GV), and rotating jackscrews (VL, VR). These components are available with ISO or UNC threads and are essential for secure and reliable connections.
Backshells
The document describes the use of backshells, which are available in types HA and HC. These backshells are designed to be used with specific termination styles and provide additional protection and stability to the connectors.
Ordering Information
A comprehensive guide is provided for ordering connectors, detailing the series, contact arrangement, contact type, termination style, and additional features such as guides and jackscrews.
Accessories
Additional accessories such as spring locking systems and potting moulds are available to enhance the functionality and reliability of the connectors in demanding environments.
