Main Fields of Application
RACO ball screws are used in industries like machine tools, aerospace, nuclear reactors, medical devices, and transportation equipment due to their high precision and reliability.
Specifications
1. Permissible lead variation is 0.050 and 0.100 over 300 mm, with d1 and d2 subject to a tolerance of +0.4 mm.
2. The diameter of the ball screw end over which the nut is fitted must not exceed d2. Larger diameters at the other spindle end should be achieved by shrinking on collars and flanges to limit costs.
3. Oil holes can be incorporated on request.
4. Load rating determination follows DIN 69051 part 4 for fü ≥ 5, with consultation required for fü < 5.
Procedures
1. For nut removal, use an assembling sleeve with an outer diameter of 1.02 x d2 and at least twice as long as the nut.
2. The sleeve is aligned with the thread start, and the nut is threaded onto it by rotation.
Standards and Norms
1. Tolerances conform to DIN 7168.
2. Acceptance tests follow DIN 69 051 part 3.
Recommendations
1. Ensure only axial forces are transferred to avoid radial or eccentric loads.
2. Define end positions with switches and mechanical barriers to protect the nut assembly.
Quality Assurance
1. RACO ensures maximum quality by building essential components in-house.
2. Products are checked thoroughly before leaving the production site.
Service and Maintenance
1. Ball screws should be mounted to avoid radial or eccentric loads.
2. Use an assembling sleeve for nut removal and reassembly.
Installation and Maintenance of Ball Screws

Installation
Before installation, clean the ball screw and nut with a suitable cleaning agent that does not damage wiper materials. Lubricate with oil or grease before operation. Protect from dirt and chips using covers. Ensure proper alignment to avoid errors and maintain service life. Do not dismount guiding inserts or add balls to the nut assembly.

Maximum Permissible Speed
The speed depends on the ball speed in the nut assembly and centrifugal forces. A guideline for medium-sized diameters is n x d1 = 110,000, where n is the speed in rpm and d1 is the screw diameter in mm. Consult for applications within the critical range.

Operating Temperature
Standard ball screws operate between -30°C and +110°C. Consult for applications outside these limits.

Lubrication
Lubricants reduce friction and protect from wear and corrosion. Choose lubricants based on speed, load, and temperature. Oil lubrication is recommended for heat dissipation, while grease lubrication is suitable for less frequent replenishment. Avoid mixing different soap-based greases.

Storage
Store ball screws to prevent bending and corrosion. They are treated with a corrosion inhibitor for protection up to 5 years under proper conditions.

RACO Schwelm RACO BALL SCREWS INTRODUCTION IN RACO BALL SCREWS The ball screw assembly consists of screw, nut and balls. The function is to transfer the rotary motion or into a linear motion into rotary motion. This is further extension and development of slide ball screw. The important significance of development is the same as changing a bearing from rolling motion to sliding motion. Because of excellent friction function, ball screw is widely used for all kinds of industrial equipment and precision instruments. RACO offers a wide range of ground ball screws to cover all requirements: Flanged...

RACO Schwelm RACO BALL SCREWS The RACO nut design The core of a RACO ball screw is the nut with its single lead ball return that has been developed by us. This design has been protected by a universal patent and ensures that the balls are returned within the ball screw nut at the shortest possible route. This gives you the benefit of a higher rated load with the smallest possible nut dimensions, meaning higher efficiency and a longer service life. RACO ball screws with a single or double nut (nut and counter nut) can be preset free from backlash, so that the correct and recurrent positioning...

RACO Schwelm RACO BALL SCREWS PRECISION BALL SCREWS / TECHNOLOGY Ball screws are mechanism for changing rotary into linear motion and vice versa (Fig. 3). A ball screw assembly consists of the actual screw, the nut assembly with crossover for the return of the balls and the rolling balls. The balls roll in helical tracks in the screw and nut and form the only connection between them. The force transmitted is spread over a number of balls, so that the contact stress is relatively low. The rolling friction between the ball screw and nut results in an extremely low coefficient of friction. Fig....
