COB-385

Product catalog summary
Overview
The COB-385 is a fiber-coupled LED light source designed for high power output with peak wavelengths ranging from UV to NIR. It is compact, user-friendly, and silent, making it suitable for applications in fluorescence, spectroscopy, and general fiber illumination.

Specifications
  • Electrical Characteristics: Operates with an AC/DC adapter (100-240V, 50-60Hz). Input voltage is 10-18 V with a maximum input current of 1 A. The connector type is DC female 2.1mm for power and SMA female for pulsed mode input.
  • Optical Characteristics: The output connector is SMA 905/FC with a peak wavelength of 385 nm and a spectral range FWHM of 12.5 nm. The typical optical power output is 10.6 mW.
  • Other Characteristics: Operates within a temperature range of 0 - 50 ºC and humidity below 80% HR. The equipment surface temperature is 40 ºC with a stabilization time of 25 minutes. Dimensions are 10.5 x 11.5 x 8 cm, and it weighs 500 g.

Operation Modes
The device can operate in continuous (ON) or pulsed modes. The MODE switch allows selection between ON, OFF, and PULSED. Intensity in ON mode is adjustable between 20% and 100%. In PULSED mode, intensity is controlled via a PWM signal (0-5 V) with recommended frequencies up to 500 Hz for maximum resolution, though frequencies up to 100 kHz are permissible.

Safety Notes
  • Do not remove or modify safety devices; this voids the warranty and creates unsafe conditions.
  • The device contains dangerous currents and has no user-serviceable parts.
  • Only qualified personnel should service the unit.
  • Inspect the unit and power supply before first use and do not use if damaged.
  • Ensure proper ventilation during operation to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid direct eye exposure to optical radiation from the light source.

COB-385-1

COB-385 Fiber coupled LED Light Source The COB series comprises high power LED light sources with peak wavelengths that range from UV to NIR. They are co nceived as user friendly, compact and silent tools, being ideal for fluorescence, spectroscopy and general fiber illumination applications. These light sources have been designed to obtain a high coupli ng efficiency to optical fiber through a selectable SMA/FC connector. In addition, they can be operated either in continuous (CW) or pulsed modes. (2) Measured with an optical fiber (core diameter 600pm) and a Si photodiode (OPHIR™) www.pyroistech.com [email protected]

Operation Modes Connect a proper power source (included with the light source) prior to operation. The light source includes two controls on the front. The MODE switch on the right sets the operation mode between ON (left), OFF (centre) and PULSED (right). The left knob controls the intensity in ON mode (switch on the left position). The intensity can be adjusted between 20% (fully counter-clockwise) and 100% (fully clockwise) of maximum intensity. In PULSED mode (switch on the right position), the intensity can be controlled using a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal through the PWM input connector...
