Water Distillation & Pure Steam Generation Systems
Puretech provides advanced systems for water distillation and pure steam generation, specifically designed for pharmaceutical applications. These systems are compliant with cGMP standards and are used to produce Water for Injection (WFI) and pure steam.
Multiple Effect Distillers (MED)
The MED systems are designed to produce compendial WFI using a series of boiling columns. The first column generates pure steam, which is then condensed and re-distilled in subsequent columns, optimizing operational costs. Key features include double tube sheet exchangers, thin-falling film technology, and a special labyrinth separator for pyrogen-free steam. The systems are constructed with certified AISI 316L stainless steel and offer capacities from 50 to 15,000 l/hr.
Vapour Compression Distillers (VCD)
VCD systems are versatile, working with various feed water types and offering significant energy savings compared to MED systems. They do not require cooling water and can produce both cold and hot distillate. The systems are fully automated with Siemens® or Rockwell® SCADA systems and offer capacities from 20 to 20,000 l/hr.
Pure Steam Generators
These generators produce dry, saturated steam for sterilization and meet USP & EP requirements when condensed. They use centrifugal and gravity separation methods and are designed to minimize steam speed to prevent water droplet carry-over. Capacities range from 20 to 8,000 kg/h.
KOMB System
The KOMB system combines the functions of a MED and a Pure Steam Generator on a single skid, reducing space and cost. It is controlled by a single SCADA system and can produce WFI and/or pure steam simultaneously.

Multi Effect Distillation Puretech’s Multiple Effect Distillers (MED) are designed and manufactured according to cGMP to produce compendial Water for Injection (WFI). Vapour Compression Distillation Puretech’s Vapour Compression Distiller (VCD) is manufactured according to the international cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Pharmacopoeias. A vapour compression still can potentially work with any feed water; furthermore, customised systems with pre-treatment integrated on the same skid with reverse osmosis and the ability to be electrically heated and steam heated are all standard options. KOMB System Multi Effect Still + PS Generator Our KOMB system is a unique design for the simultaneous production of WFI and PS, combining functions of a Multiple Effect Distiller (MED) and of a Pure Steam Generator (PSG) on a single skid, reducing the space requirements and cost. A single SCADA system controls both the MED and PSG which is capable of providing separate or simultaneous production of Water for Injection and/or Pure Steam.
