MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter

Product catalog summary
Overview
The MantaRay Portable Open Channel Flow Monitor is designed for measuring flow in open channels, partially full sewer pipes, and surcharged pipes. It is suitable for applications such as stormwater, sewage, irrigation water, and natural streams. The device uses a hydrodynamic ultrasonic sensor to measure both velocity and level, providing real-time flow rate and total flow data on a backlit LCD display.
Key Features
  • Submerged ultrasonic sensor resists fouling, corrosion, and abrasion.
  • Easy calibration by entering pipe diameter or channel dimensions.
  • Mounts inside pipes or on channel bottoms with a stainless steel bracket.
  • Data logging with a 2-million point capacity and USB output for data transfer.
  • Sleep mode for extended battery life, with intervals ranging from 10 seconds to 1 hour.
  • External battery input for extended operation.
Recommended Conditions
For optimal performance, the sensor should be mounted in locations free from sediment buildup, with evenly distributed velocity and minimal turbulence. The channel should not have drops or direction changes upstream, and the slope should not exceed 3%.
Technical Specifications
  • Channel Types: Round, rectangular, trapezoid, egg, or custom shapes.
  • Operating Temperature: -20 °C to +60 °C for electronics, -15 °C to +80 °C for the sensor.
  • Accuracy: Level ±0.25% of range or 1 mm; Velocity ±2% of reading.
  • Battery: Internal rechargeable NiMH, 12 V DC, 10,000 mAh.
  • Output: 4-20mA, 0-5 V DC, and two solid-state relays.
Data Management
The MantaRay includes Windows software for data presentation and export, allowing users to generate flow reports and export data to Excel or graphic formats.
Support and Service
Pulsar Measurement offers global support and training through its facilities in the UK, USA, Canada, and Malaysia, ensuring comprehensive service throughout the product's lifetime.

MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter-1

Portable, open channel flow monitor Measures Flow in Open Channels with a Hydrodynamic, Ultrasonic Sensor Portable Open Channel Flow Meter Designed for flow surveys in open channels, partially full sewer pipes, and surcharged pipes. MantaRay is ideal for stormwater, sewage, irrigation water, and natural streams. Hydrodynamic Ultrasonic Sensor The MantaRay uses a submerged ultrasonic sensor to continuously measure both velocity and level in the channel. The sensor resists fouling, corrosion, and abrasion. View real-time flow rate and total flow on the large backlit LCD display. Connect to samplers or SCADA and telemetry systems with the 4-20mA and relay outputs. Download flow log files to a USB memory stick. Portable, Flow Monitor for Partially Filled Pipes & Open Channels Easy to Use The MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter The Greyline MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter measures both level and velocity to calculate flow in an open channel or pipe. Calibration is simple: enter I N F O @ P U L S A R M E A S U R E M E N T . MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter-2

Recommended Pipe or Channel Conditions Careful selection of sensor mounting location results in the best performance and maintenance-free operation; avoid locations where sediment is likely to build up. The best possible accuracy will result when the water is not highly turbulent and where velocity is evenly distributed across the channel. The channel should not have drops or direction changes immediately upstream of the sensor mounting location and the pipe or channel slope should not exceed 3%. The MantaRay can measure forward flow velocity up to 6.1 m/s (20 ft/s) and reverse flow up to 1.5...
