This sampling device can be installed via a block flange, which is welded to the vessel wall. The sample is extracted by a piston, which is furnished with a ladle shaped sample chamber on its front end. The insertion length is variable and is set at the beginning of the campaign. A scale is marked on the pneumatic cylinder that allows the operator to set the depths by moving the proximity switches on the anchor bar. Alternatively, a pneumatically actuated ball valve can be used to isolate the drop chute from the sampler outlet. The ball valve opening and closing is an integral part of the control mechanism of the sampler. The isolation ball valve: • As the piston is retracted into the chamber (with its sample) it will rotate by 180º. Allows separate Sampler and Drop-Chute C.I.P. Allows the sampling capsule on the piston to be positioned at the end - thus allowing sample to be extracted from all positions in the drop-chute. Full containment when the sampler is not in operation. This will result in the sample in the ladle free falling into the awaiting sample bottle. When the piston is at rest (not in operating mode), it is fully retracted and no part of the device obstructs the flow of the free-falling product. The piston passes through the isolation ball valve. The piston is extended into the process. The piston is rotated 180º and retracted with a sample. The piston is again rotated through 180º. The sample is transferred from the ladle to the sample bottle.
