These tapping units are designed with a detachable tapping head to be used for single tap applications. The tapping head can be driven by a mechanical or servo-driven motorization, which are interchangeable. These units are much easier to use thanks to the automatic tap position adjustment (auto-setup function) and declutchable cartridge. The two-part design makes the handling of the unit much easier and reduces the downtime for tap change. Torque monitoring during tapping is available with the Servo-driven unit. It flags the detection of tapping anomalies / irregularities by an over-torque reading (tight pre-hole, tap worn out or lack of lubrication) or by a low-torque reading (tap breakage, large pre-hole).
