Product catalog summary
Introduction to EMC Filters
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a prevalent issue in electronic equipment, manifesting as either intentional or unwanted emissions. EMI can propagate through conducted interference (150 KHz to 30 MHz) or radiated interference (30 MHz to 300 MHz). Electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) refers to equipment failure in electromagnetic environments, while electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the relationship between interfering and affected equipment.
Conducted and Radiated Interference
Conducted interference occurs in common mode (asymmetric) and differential mode (symmetric). Radiated interference happens when equipment acts as an antenna, capturing signals through power supply cables or internal elements.
Minimizing Interference
Power line filters are used to block interference, designed as low-pass filters to attenuate interference frequencies while allowing power line frequencies to pass. The filter's impedance should be unmatched to the interference source to reflect perturbations back.
Filter Characteristics
Filters should cover frequencies from 10 KHz to 300 MHz, with high insertion losses in specified ranges. They must comply with relevant standards and be designed for both symmetric and asymmetric modes.
Special Line Filters
PREMO offers customizable power line filters with various connection types and accessories, allowing for tailored solutions.
Selection and Installation
Choosing the right filter and proper installation is crucial. Filters can be mounted externally or internally, with external shielding connected to the equipment chassis. Power and load lines should be short and well-separated.
Verification Tests
PREMO filters undergo high voltage, leakage current, and attenuation tests to ensure reliability and safety.
General Technical Characteristics
Filters are rated for specific voltages and currents, with dielectric strength and leakage current specifications. They are categorized by climatic conditions and component tolerances.
Applications and Product Range
PREMO offers a wide range of filters for different applications, including single-phase, three-phase, DC, and screened room filters.
Single-Phase Filters
Available in various configurations, including chassis panel mounting and high attenuation models, designed for general purpose or specific applications like switching mode power supplies (SMPS).
Introduction to Inverter Filters
PREMO has developed a comprehensive range of INVERTER EMC FILTERS, including single-phase and three-phase filters up to 900 Amps and voltages of 250V, 520V, and 720V.
Inverter Connection Information
Guidelines include grounding all metallic parts, placing the EMC Filter close to the inverter case, and using shielded cables from the filter to the motor.
Three-Phase Filters for Frequency Converters
Designed for frequency inverters with a maximum operating voltage of 520Vac and an operating frequency of DC - 60Hz.
EMC DC Filters for PV Applications
Designed for photovoltaic inverters and other DC applications, with a maximum operating voltage of 1200 Vdc.
Three-Phase + Neutral Line Filters
Designed for frequency converters without neutral, offering high attenuation properties and compact size.
Inverter Output Ferrites
Effective in reducing electromagnetic interference from motor cables, particularly in the frequency range of 5 to 20 MHz.
DV/DT Output Filters
Minimize frequency inverter dV/dT values, increase motor life, and reduce motor heating.
Feedthrough Filters
Single Line C-Circuit filters are compact and easy to install, suitable for telecom, military, and industrial applications.

INTRODUCTION Electromagnetic Interference Most electronic equipment generates electromagnetic interference, which in some cases may be intentional (a radiofrequency generator) or unwanted (electronic motor speed controller). This interference is mainly propagated in two ways, one via an energy conducting network, and the other through the air. These are called CONDUCTED INTERFERENCE (150 KHz TO 30 MHz) and RADIATED INTERFERENCE (30 MHz to 300 MHz), respectively. Also, electronic equipment can fail when working within an electromagnetic environment. This tendency to fail is very common and is known...

Filter characteristics The filters should cover the range of frequencies between 10 KHz and 300 MHz, although the range can be different depending on the standard to be applied. They should generate high insertion losses within the specified frequency range. The insertion losses should be defined for both SYMMETRIC and ASYMMETRIC modes. As the filters are normally installed in the power supply line, they should comply with the appropiate standards. Special Line Filters In this catalogue it is possible to select power line filters of one or more stages, with printed circuit connection, spade fasterners,...
