Tube Expander Specifications and Usage

Applicable Tube Internal Diameter Range

The tube expanders are designed for tubes with internal diameters ranging from 3.8 mm (0.152 inches) to 8.4 mm (0.331 inches).

Tube Sheet Adjustable Range

The tube expanders are fitted with rollers of minimum length 25.4 mm (1 inch) and mandrel drives of 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) square. Note that all 'AN' series expanders come standard with 1/4 inch square mandrel drives, with round mandrel drives available as an option.

Power Master AN Series Overview

Use: Suitable for oil coolers, radiators, and other equipment with small diameter tubes.

Advantages:

  • Captive mandrel design eliminates the nut on the mandrel tip, preventing scratching of the tube internal diameter.
  • Increased feed angle allows for faster operation, making it ideal for high production environments.

Technical Data Summary

The document provides detailed measurements for various tube sizes, including tube outer diameter (O.D.), tube thickness, minimum internal diameter (I.D.) for tool entry, and maximum expansion capability of the tool. Each size corresponds to specific tool part numbers for the expander, mandrel, and roller sets.

Key Parameters and Recommendations

  • Roller length is standardized at 25.4 mm (1 inch) for the expanders.
  • Mandrel drives are typically 1/4 inch square, with round drives as an option.
  • The captive mandrel design is critical to avoid damage to tube internal surfaces during expansion.
  • The increased feed angle enhances operational speed, beneficial for high-volume production.

Summary

This document provides detailed specifications and part numbers for tube expanders suitable for small diameter tubes used in oil coolers, radiators, and similar equipment. It emphasizes the design features that prevent tube damage and improve operational efficiency, along with precise dimensional data to select the correct tool for specific tube sizes.
