Product catalog summary
Company Overview
Power-Sonic, established in 1970, has over 38 years of experience in the battery industry, distributing products in more than 70 countries. The company specializes in designing, manufacturing, and marketing rechargeable batteries, including sealed lead-acid (SLA), powersport, nickel-cadmium (NiCd), and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries, along with their chargers.
Product Specifications
Power-Sonic batteries feature sealed, maintenance-free operation, valve-regulated design, and flexibility for series or parallel use. They are compact, rugged, and operate in temperatures from -40°C to +60°C, offering long service life, deep discharge recovery, and high watt-hour per dollar value.
Design and Construction
The batteries are made with high-impact resistant ABS plastic cases, some with flame retardant properties. They can operate in any orientation without performance loss or electrolyte leakage and have low internal resistance for high rate discharge.
Performance Characteristics
Power-Sonic batteries have a long shelf life due to low self-discharge rates and are suitable for cyclic and standby applications, with a service life of four to five years or 200 to 1000 charge/discharge cycles.
Charging and Application Notes
Proper charging is crucial, with guidelines for cycle and float charging. Overcharging or undercharging can damage the battery, and adequate ventilation is necessary to prevent gas build-up. Batteries should be charged within six months of storage to prevent capacity loss.
Model Specifications
Detailed specifications for various battery models include nominal voltage, capacity, dimensions, weight, and terminal types. Models range from 2V to 12V with capacities from 0.5Ah to 210Ah.
Graphical Data
Graphs illustrate capacity variation by current load, discharge time as a function of discharge current, and the effect of temperature on capacity, aiding in selecting the appropriate battery for specific applications.
Battery Construction
The construction details include the use of ABS plastic for the case and lid, resistant to chemicals and flammability. Sealing methods include ultrasonic, epoxy, or heat seal, with a relief valve to manage gas pressure, ensuring safety.
Components
Terminals vary by model, including AMP Faston, post type, or heavy-duty flag terminals. The electrolyte is immobilized dilute sulfuric acid, and separators are made from non-woven glass fiber cloth. Plates are made from lead-calcium alloy for strength and durability.
Applications
Power-Sonic batteries are used in power sources, communications, lighting, security systems, automotive, recreation, portable equipment, monitoring equipment, agricultural, military, and miscellaneous applications.
Battery Chargers
A range of chargers is available for batteries up to 100AH, with guidance provided in the Charger Selection Guide.
Quality Assurance
The company employs IQC, PQC, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems to ensure product quality, with all batteries tested before sale. Products meet international standards and have UL and CE certification.
Contact Information
Contact details for corporate headquarters, domestic, international, and European sales offices are provided.

POWER-SONIC Rechargeable Batteries CAPACITY VARIATION BY CURRENT LOAD When a battery discharges current at a constant rate, its capacity changes according to the amperage load. Capacity increases when the discharge current is less than the 20-hour rate and decreases when the current is higher. The graph above shows capacity curves for major Power-Sonic battery models with different ampere-hour ratings. Amperage is on the horizontal scale and the time elapsed is on the vertical scale; the product of these values is the capacity. Proper selection of the battery for a specific application can be...

We’ve Got The Power.™ Charging Cycle Applications: Limit initial current to 0.30C (C is the nominal amp hour capacity of the battery) or 30 amps, which ever is the less. Charge until battery voltage (under charge) reaches 2.45 volts per cell at 68°F (20°C). Hold at 2.45 volts per cell until current drops to approximately 0.01C ampere. Battery is fully charged under these conditions, and charger should either be disconnected or switched to “float” voltage. “Float” or “Stand-by” Service: Hold battery across constant voltage source of 2.25 to 2.30 volts per cell continuously. When held at this voltage,...

Container & case sealing Case and lid material is ABS, high impact, resin with high resistance to chemicals and flammability. Case and cover are made of non-conductive ABS plastic to UL94-HB or UL94 V-O. Depending on the model the case sealing is ultrasonic, epoxy or heat seal. Relief valve In case of excessive gas pressure build-up inside the battery, the relief valve will open and relieve the pressure. The one-way valve not only ensures that no air gets into the battery where the oxygen would react with the plates causing internal discharge, but also represents an important safety device in...
