Polypipe Building Products Ltd have two ranges of underground pipes and fittings. There is a kitemarked range to EN1401-1 but where a more cost effective solution is required the Polycore / Polyfit range of products can be used which has BBA approval. > All products are manufactured in accordance with British Standards where applicable to items endorsed on the appropriate licence and it is the policy of Polypipe to attain this for all items within the scope of the standards. Full details of our current endorsements are available upon request. The Kitemark is a BSI Certification Trade Mark. BSI licences its use only after it has had samples of the product tested independently, and assessed the manufacturer to BS5750 Part 2 (1987) (the national standard for quality systems). BSI also satisfies itself that the quality system operated by the manufacturer in relation to the certified product ensures its continuing conformity to specification and subsequently monitors the licenced manufacturers quality system and product conformity to these specifications. Notes on European Standardisation New Europe-wide Standards (EN) are now starting to be published in the UK and will replace the corresponding British Standards, which will be withdrawn usually after an implementation period of two years after the publication date of the EN Standard. EN 1401-1: 1998 applies to the PVCu Underground Drainage and Sewer Products and will replace most of the BS4660 and all of the BS4581 by the target date of October 1999. Products made to EN 1401-1 are fully interchangable dimensionally with products manufactured to BS4660 / BS5481 and the SN4 Stiffness Classification is the same as BS4660 / BS5481 such that the same installation practice can be continued. Polypipe Building Products in conjunction with the British Standards Institution has now changed over to the European Standard. Current pipe production is being dual marked with both EN1401-1 and BS4660 / BS4581 and fittings have now been changed to EN1401-1 markings. BS4660 will be re-issued by BSI to include fittings such as Access Fittings, which are not included in the EN1401. > For certain products outside the scope of EN1401-1, the independent Certificate of Agrment has been awarded after a programme of testing, site visits, and factory inspections. The system has recently gained approval for installations under certain conditions on a 50mm bed in respect of 110 and 160mm PVCu Pipe and Fittings. > All underground pipes and fittings are manufactured in Golden Brown. Certain fittings such as access and inspection chambers are manufactured in Black. >
