Water in fuel Monitor

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides technical specifications and operational details for the BS&W Watercut & Monitor Meter Model EASZ-1, developed by PETROSYSTEM Srl. This device is designed to measure the water content in oil using capacitance technology.
Key Features:
  • Loop powered and microprocessor-based electronics for enhanced stability and accuracy.
  • User-selectable measurement ranges from 0-25% to 0-65% for flexibility in various applications.
  • Built-in temperature compensation to mitigate the effects of temperature changes on dielectric constants.
  • Serial interface available for on-site or laboratory adjustments.
  • Easy installation and maintenance with a removable PCB card.
Technical Specifications:
  • General: Water in oil measurement ranges include 0-1%, 0-3%, 0-10%, 0-25%, and 0-65%. Recommended flow range is 60 to 1300 barrels per day with a resolution of 0.01% (XL version) and 0.1% (XH version).
  • Mechanical: Constructed from carbon steel or 316/316L materials, with pipe connections conforming to 2 inch 150/300/600 B16.5 ANSI CLASS RF standards. Maximum temperature is 190°C (380°F) and pressure rating is 100 Bar (1440 PSI).
  • Electrical: Operates on loop power or 24 VDC, with electronic protection rated at Nema 7X Class 1 Div1 Group D. Operating temperature range is -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C). Outputs include 4-20 mA DC, RS232 Full Duplex, and optional RS485.
Applications: The EASZ-1 is suitable for monitoring water content in various oil types, including crude oil, fuel oil, heavy oil, and diesel lines. It is also applicable for individual well testing, group production testing, and injection water monitoring.
Operational Principle: The device uses a cylindrical sensor and outer barrel to form electrodes of a coaxial capacitor. The oil sample acts as a dielectric fluid, altering capacitance based on its dielectric constant. This change is converted into a water percentage, providing a continuous survey of the emulsion stream.
Additional Information: The EASZ-1 includes a default calibration table for accurate readings at low water content and allows for user adjustments to meet specific requirements. The device is designed for easy integration and adaptability in various operational environments.

A cylindrical sensor and outer barrel are separated from each other and form the electrodes of a coaxial capacitor. The oil sample flows between the cells as a dielectric fluid, changing the capacitance of the assembly proportionally with the change in dielectric constant of the fluid. The measured capacitance is converted water percentage. Capacitance technology has been used to measure water in oil for a long time and is an accepted principle. We have enhanced Loop Powered EASZ-1 BS&W with stable microprocessor based electronics which do not have the associated problems of the effect of temperature changes on the dielectric constant, since our built in temperature sensor and electronics compensate. This in turn means higher accuracy and stability at an affordable price, something that has been the wish of clients in the oil industry. Watercut Monitor is a solid state electronic instrument that determines the percent watercut in an oil emulsion without requiring the physical separation of the fluids. The capacitance probe technique employed by the Watercut Monitor allows the emulsion stream to be continuously surveyed. The frequency generated by the capacitance probe is determined by the watercut of the emulsion stream in the probe. The Watercut Monitor calculates capacitance measurement by digital techniques. The result is a 4-20mA output signal which varies linearly with watercut. The cut monitor is run on loop power and easy to install. The Watercut Monitor range is site or user selectable from 0 –1%, 0-3%, 0-10%, 0-25% and optionally 0-65% EASZ-1 BSW FEATURES • Microprocessor based electronics Loop powered with user selectable ranges • Serial interface for onsite or LAB adjustments if necessary • Easy to remove PCB Card

So, in other words, water is capable of storing much more energy per volume unit than the average oil. It is important to understand that any changes to the oil that affects the dielectric properties of the oil...
