The Model 4000D can also be used on offshore platforms, support vessels as well as for pipeline projects on land. The ATEX compliant signaller is housed in a fully certified aluminium explosion proof housing for operation in hazardous areas category zone 1. The unit can log up to 100 events with time and date stamps. Logged data is displayed on a high visibility display incorporated into the unit. A single button is used to cycle through events and/or erase events. The unit also includes ultrabright LED indicators which signal when an event has occurred and is visible from up to 100m. The signaller is supplied with ratchet straps for ease of connection to the pipeline. Pigs must be fitted with rare earth magnets (neodymium iron boron) around the pig body. Detection speed ranges from 0.1 to greater than 10 metres per second. The window of detection typically 0.2m either side of the signaller varies in accordance with the pipeline diameter and wall thickness. This is a desirable feature eliminating spurious activation. Local Indication The signaller has an LCD Display screen providing the time and date of the last 100 events as well as the current time and date. The LCD display has 2 controls for: ? On/Off Switching. ? Scrolling through the event history and clearing stored memory. The 4000D MAGSIG Non-Intrusive Magnetic Pig Signaller has the following additional options available. Communication Remote Output For remote monitoring OnlinE can provide the ability to confirm events remotely by sending a text message to a mobile phone with event number, time, and date. Control Room Communications In a fixed installation, FPSO or offshore platform, the 4000D can be cabled back through a SWA (steel wired Armoured) cable or via a suitable EEx e junction box to a control console located in a non-hazardous zone. Design Life The signaller is engineered to a high specification with a 25 year design life.
