Electical Resistance Probes

Electical Resistance Probes

Product catalog summary
Overview
Petrosystem Srl specializes in corrosion monitoring solutions, offering Electrical Resistance (ER) probes and Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR) techniques. These tools provide critical data on corrosion rates, aiding in the assessment of corrosion inhibition effectiveness and detecting changes in process corrosivity.
Electrical Resistance (ER) Probes
ER probes are essential for intrusive corrosion monitoring, measuring metal loss due to corrosion or erosion. The technique is versatile, applicable in various environments, and independent of process properties. However, it is not recommended for sour service environments where conductive scales like iron sulphide may form. Data from ER probes is typically presented as a uniform rate of metal loss, measured in mils per year (mpy) or millimeters per year (mmpy).
Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR)
LPR is a rapid-response method for assessing changes in the corrosivity of aqueous solutions. It is highly effective in expert hands but requires careful application selection, as the presence of oil can hinder its operation.
Product Range
The Cormon product line includes compact, intrinsically safe transmitters, data loggers, and a variety of probes suitable for high, medium, and low-pressure applications.

Electical Resistance Probes-1

PETROSYSTEM Srl Electical Resistance Probes Electrical Resistance (ER) probes are the mainstay of most intrusive corrosion monitoring applications, providing on-line data about corrosion rates that may be used to check the efficacy of corrosion inhibition or detect changes in underlying process corrosivity. Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR) is a fast responding intrusive method for measuring changes in the corrosivity of aqueous solutions. In expert hands LPR is an extremely effective electrochemical tool but care must be taken to select appropriate applications as the presence of oil may prevent effective operation. The comprehensive Cormon products range for these techniques includes compact, intrinsically safe transmitters and data loggers and a wide range of probes for high, medium and low pressure use. ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE PROBE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE probes and ER instruments are used for measuring metal loss due to corrosion/erosion in process applications. Corrosion of the exposed Sample element is measured as a change in its electrical resistance. The method is usable in almost any environment, being independent of the process properties. ER is not recommended for use in sour service if conductive (iron sulphide) scales are likely to be deposited. Data is usually presented as a uniform rate of metal loss for the period of interest in mpy or mmpy.
