Laser Smoke Detector Brochure

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses the Pinnacle Ultra High Sensitivity Laser Smoke Detector, highlighting its flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and superior performance compared to traditional aspirated smoke detection systems. Pinnacle is designed for critical applications where ultra-high sensitivity is required, such as telecommunications centers and clean rooms.
Specifications: Pinnacle operates within a voltage range of 15-32 volts DC, with a standby current of 230 µA at 24 VDC. It features a height of 1.66 inches and a diameter of 4.0 inches, with an operating temperature range of 32° to 100°F. The detector supports a velocity range of 0-4000 fpm and relative humidity of 10%-93% non-condensing. Smoke sensitivity is adjustable across nine levels, from 0.02% to 2.00%/ft. obscuration.
Technology and Functionality: Pinnacle utilizes laser-based, microprocessor-controlled technology for high sensitivity and stability. It employs a light-scattering principle similar to photoelectric detectors but with 100 times greater sensitivity due to its laser diode. The system can distinguish between smoke and dust using patented algorithms, ensuring accurate detection and reducing false alarms.
Advantages: Pinnacle offers significant advantages over standard photoelectric smoke detectors, particularly in environments where smoke can cause extensive damage to electronic equipment. It provides early detection, potentially triggering alarms up to 20 minutes earlier than conventional detectors. The system is intelligent and addressable, allowing for precise location identification of smoke sources, which enhances response times during fire incidents.
Maintenance and Diagnostics: The system includes self-diagnostics initiated by the control panel and activated by a test magnet. It provides alerts for high and low sensitivity maintenance needs and urgent maintenance signals, ensuring the system remains in optimal working condition.
Company Profile: System Sensor is a global leader in fire detection and notification technology, emphasizing innovation and reliability. The company invests heavily in research and development to produce sophisticated products designed for real-world applications, with facilities across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

How Pinnacle Works The principles of laser detection are similar to those of photoelectric technology. In a photoelectric smoke detector, a Light Emitting Diode (LED) emits light into a sensing chamber that is designed to completely restrict ambient light while allowing smoke to enter. Any particles of smoke entering the chamber will scatter the light and trigger the photodiode sensor. Pinnacle works on the same light-scattering principle, but with 100× greater sensitivity. This ultra-sensitivity is due to the laser itself, which is literally amplified light (the word “laser” is an acronym for...
