It is tear, abrasion, and UV resistant and it withstands exposure to fuel, water, oil, acids, and many solvents. Permatex Self-fusing Silicone Tape also meets MIL Spec A-A-59163, UL510, and it is a class H Insulator. PRODUCT BENEFITS Excellent heat, chemical and moisture resistance Full cure is achieved in 24 hours Tear and abrasion resistant UV resistant TYPICAL APPLICATIONS Seal hoses and leaky plumbing Insulate electrical connections Wrap hand tool handles DIRECTIONS FOR USE Note: For leaks, use several layers of stretched tape. For electrical repairs, always disconnect the power before starting the repair. 1. Remove any excess dirt, oil, etc. from repair area and clean hands with Permatex Fast Orange hand cleaners or soap and water before starting the repair. 2. Remove Permatex Self-fusing Silicone Tape from the package and peel 1-2 inches of liner from the tape. 3. Press the exposed tape firmly to the surface to be repaired, making sure to completely overlap the first wrap over itself while at the same time stretching the tape. While stretching the tape as it is wrapped, overlap each layer approximately 2/3 of the previous wrap, peeling off the liner as you wrap. The tape fuses on both sides as it is wrapped and it will start bonding together almost immediately. The more the tape is stretched, the faster it fuses together and the stronger the grip. Permatex Self-fusing Silicone Tape stretches up to 3 times its original length. Finish by completely overlapping the last wrap and press the tape firmly. Do not try to reposition or reuse the tape. At room temperature, the repaired area is in most cases sealed immediately and the tape fully cures in 24 hours. Check the repair area periodically to ensure that the leak has stopped. If a leak is detected, remove the tape (see below) and start over at Step 1. For Tape Removal and Cleanup 1. Remove Self-fusing Silicone tape with a safety razor by carefully cutting across the width of the tape. The tape leaves no sticky residue. 2. Clean hands with Permatex Fast Orange hand cleaners or soap and water.
