Product catalog summary
Overview: PERMABOND® 105 is a low-viscosity, high-purity cyanoacrylate adhesive designed for bonding hard-to-bond plastics and rubbers. It is suitable for professional or industrial use only and is approved to MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 1 for existing designs.
Features & Benefits: The adhesive is ideal for bonding natural and synthetic rubber, hard-to-bond plastics, and most materials without the need for mixing or heat curing. It is 100% reactive with no solvents.
Typical Physical Properties: The adhesive is colorless with a viscosity of 30-50 mPa.s at 25°C and a specific gravity of 1.1. It has a dielectric constant of 2.5 at 10kHz and a dielectric strength of 25 kV/mm.
Curing Properties: Maximum gap fill is 0.1 mm. Fixture/handling time varies by material, ranging from 5-20 seconds, with full strength achieved in 24 hours. Cure speed can be affected by temperature, humidity, and surface conditions.
Performance of Cured Adhesive: Shear strength varies by material, with steel achieving 18-22 N/mm² and aluminum 6-8 N/mm². The adhesive has an impact strength of 3-5 Kj/m² and a hardness of 85 Shore D.
Hot Strength: The adhesive can withstand higher temperatures for brief periods, such as during paint-baking and wave soldering processes, provided the joint is not unduly stressed.
Chemical Resistance: The adhesive is not recommended for use with strong oxidizing materials and polar solvents but can withstand a solvent wash without bond-strength deterioration.
Storage & Handling: Store between 2 to 7°C. Allow the adhesive to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and grease-free before application.
Directions for Use: Apply sparingly to one surface, align components quickly, and apply pressure to spread the adhesive into a thin film. Do not disturb until sufficient strength is achieved. Surplus adhesive can be removed with Permabond® CA solvent, nitromethane, or acetone.
Additional Information: For difficult or porous surfaces, use a Permabond® activator. For bonding polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, or silicone, use Permabond® Polyolefin Primer (POP).
Contact Information: For further inquiries, contact Permabond via their regional offices in the UK, US, or Asia.

Technical Datasheet Natural and synthetic rubber bonding Ideal for hard-to-bond plastics Ease of use - no mixing or heat-cure Bonds most materials 100% reactive - no solvents Approved to MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 1 (existing designs) PERMABOND® 105 is a low-viscosity, high-purity cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is ideal for use on hard-to-bond plastics and rubbers such as natural rubber, EPDM and butyl rubber. Cyanoacrylate adhesives are single component adhesives that polymerize rapidly when pressed into a thin film between parts. The moisture adsorbed on the surface initiates the curing of the adhesive. Strong bonds are developed extremely fast and on a great variety of materials. These properties make Permabond® cyanoacrylates the ideal adhesives for high-speed production lines. *Strength results will vary depending on the level of surface preparation and gap. Typical Physical Properties of Uncured Adhesive Hot Strength Chemical composition Typical Curing Properties Maximum gap fill *Handling times can be affected by temperature, humidity and specific surfaces being bonded. Larger gaps or acidic surfaces will also reduce cure speed, but this can be overcome by the use of Permabond C Surface Activator (CSA) or Permabond QFS 16. *"Hot strength" shear strength tests performed on mild steel. 24-hour cure at room-temperature and conditioned to pull-temperature for 30 minutes before testing. Permabond® 105 can withstand higher temperatures for brief periods (such as for paintbaking and wave soldering processes) provided the joint is not unduly stressed. PERMABOND® 105 Cyanoacrylate Technical Datasheet Chemical Resistance Surface Preparation % Strength Retention Surfaces should be clean, dry and grease-free before applying the adhesive. Use a suitable solvent (such as acetone or isopropanol) for the degreasing of surfaces. Some metals such as aluminium, copper and its alloys will benefit from light abrasion with emery cloth (or similar) to remove the oxide layer. Apply the adhesive sparingly to one surface. Bring the components together quickly and correctly aligned. Apply sufficient pressure to ensure the adhesive spreads into a thin film. Do...
