General SpecificationsThe Stereo-Heat system requires electrical isolation from grounds and non-heated
piping using INSULFLANGES. Piping supports and hangers must accommodate the insulation and jacket. A temperature control system is necessary to protect the power transformer and heating circuit, utilizing resistance temperature detectors or thermocouples. These sensors must be environmentally protected and have weatherproof fittings. Status indication lights are required for power, heating, and temperature status.
Electrical DesignThe system must provide 25% more power than the maximum heat loss for maintenance temperatures up to 100°F, and 40% more for temperatures above 100°F. Additional power may be required for specific heat-up times.
TransformersThe system should be energy-efficient and cost-effective, with complete thermal and mechanical designs provided by the supplier. Only vendors offering comprehensive system designs and services will be considered. The power transformer must be an isolating type, not an autotransformer, and designed for continuous operation at maximum KVA rating.
ControlsThe piping is heated by applying low voltage to form a circuit. The
pipe temperature is monitored and controlled via a closed-loop system.
