Overview
PERMA-PIPE/RICWIL's Lo-Temp Hi-Gard piping system is designed for aboveground fluid distribution at temperatures up to 250°F. It is maintenance-free, preventing corrosion under insulation through the use of 90% closed-cell polyurethane foam that bonds to the service pipe. This system is preinsulated and prefabricated, reducing installation time and costs.

General Characteristics
The system is suitable for a variety of applications, including chemical lines, chilled water, and cooling towers, with fluid temperatures ranging from -300°F to +250°F. For temperatures above 250°F, the Mid-Temp Hi-Gard system is recommended.

Protective Jacket
The jacket material is specified to allow for optimal insulation thickness. Options include filament wound polyester fiberglass, PVC, aluminum, galvanized steel, and high-density polyethylene, with varying thicknesses and gauges.

Insulation
The insulation is 90-95% closed-cell polyurethane with a nominal density of 2 lb/ft³ and a thermal conductivity of 0.18 Btu-in/hr/ft²/°F at 73°F.

Service Pipe and Fittings
Pipes and prefabricated fittings such as elbows, loops, and tees are provided, conforming to the same specifications as straight runs.

Tracing
Electric heat tracing is available to maintain specific temperatures, using methods like Skin Effect Current Tracing, Stereo Heat®, or Heat Tape.

System Support and Anchor
Anchors are prefabricated and part of the system, with external supports provided by the installer.

Installation
Installation must follow the manufacturer's recommendations, with a factory-trained field service instructor required during critical stages.
