HI-Gard combines calcium silicate insulation with polyurethane foam and a waterproof outer jacket. Calcium silicate has high compressive strength to support the pipe and can operate at temperatures up to 650°C. Polyurethane foam also has high compressive strength to support the jacket and is the most cost effective efficient insulation on the market. These two insulations combine to result in a high quality, low cost energy efficient piping solution. What are the advantages of factory insulation over conventional eld insulation? PERMA-PIPE’s HI-GARD eliminates the need to insulate and jacket the pipe on the rack, decreasing project construction time and labor costs. The preinsulation is done in a controlled environment and is not exposed to the elements during production. The system provides owners and engineers with a quality product with energy and cost savings. HI-Gard is furnished in a variety of systems to satisy insulation and jacket needs. The outer protective jacket is available in aluminum, fiberglass, HDPE, stainless, or galvanized steel. The system is supported directly from the jacket instead of the service pipe, thus eliminating the potential for corrosion at the supports. The addition of heat tracing for freeze protection or temperature maintenance results in greater over all savings as the heat tube is welded and insulated in the factory. PERMA-PIPE designs the heat trace and insulation to result in the lowest life cycle cost.
