Product catalog summary
Overview of Transverse Direction Orientation System (TDO Technology)
The Transverse Direction Orientation System is a sophisticated technology used in the plastics industry to orient plastic films and sheets. It involves three heated zones: pre-heat, stretch, and anneal sections, with adjustable rail widths and advanced clip designs suitable for various applications. This system is designed to handle a wide range of materials, including polystyrene, PLA, polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, and PVC, and is applicable in film, sheet, netting, or nonwovens processing.
Company Background
Marshall and Williams Plastics, a division of Parkinson Technologies Inc., is a global leader in plastics orientation and casting equipment. Established in 1920, the company pioneered the adaptation of tenter frame systems from the textile industry to plastics, enabling the transverse direction orientation of plastic films and sheets.
System Features and Benefits

Marshall and Williams Transverse Direction Orientation Systems-1

MARSHALL AND WILLIAMS PLASTICS Transverse Direction Orientation Systems Marshall and Williams Plastics is a recognized global leader and innovator in plastics orientation and casting equipment. Founded in 1920, Marshall and Williams built tenter frame systems for the textile industry and was the first to adapt this technology to orient plastic film and sheet. Transverse direction orientation of plastic film and sheet is accomplished by heating the web and stretching it in the transverse (or cross) direction on a tenter frame. The tenter frame consists of two horizontal chain tracks, on which clip and chain assemblies ride. It is usually enclosed in a hot air oven.
