It evolved from aircraft and military specifications wherein light weight and reliability are paramount. As motorsports evolved into an increasingly more sophisticated and expensive professional endeavor, specific motorsport connectors have evolved which are even lighter and smaller than their aerospace counterparts. Harnesses are built using Spec55 wires insulated with modified radiation cross-linked ETFE polymer. It has a temperature rating of -65°C to 200°C [-85°F to 392°F] continuous using a silver plated copper conductor, and combines the easy handling of a flexible wire with excellent scrape abrasion and cut-through characteristics. Harness are protected with System 25 hat shrinking sleeves and boots. DR-25 heat-shrinkable tubing is flexible and abrasion resistant. It is made from a radiation cross-linked elastomeric material specially formulated for optimum high temperature fluid resistance, and long term heat resistance. The operating temperature of DR-25 tubing is from -75°C to +150°C for long periods. Connectors used, are specifically projected for motorsport application. They offer weight and space saving over standard military designs and is available a wide variety of options, with medium and high density arrangements. Between connectors and sleeve are applied heat-shrinkable molded specifically formulated and designed to provide optimum high-temperature fluid resistance and longterm heat resistance. They are particularly suitable for sealing and strain relief at connector-cable terminations and cable-to-cable transitions on military vehicle cables and harnesses. Operating temperature are from -75°C to 150°C [-103°F to 302°F] for long periods. Other connectors, wirings and arrangements are available on request.
