Surface Quality and Processing Media
This section outlines the processing steps and media used to achieve different levels of surface quality in jewelry finishing.
1. Walnut Shell Granulate
- Used for dry polishing, achieving high gloss comparable to hand polishing in approximately 2 hours.
- Suitable for jewelry pieces weighing up to 7-8 g, with ring holders or drag finishing machines preventing dents or scratches.
2. Porcelain Polishing Media
- Best for wet polishing of zinc cast and heavy silver parts, achieving high gloss in about 1.5 hours.
- Suitable for heavy jewelry pieces, reducing part-on-part contact.
3. Plastic Abrasives
- Suited for fine, smooth surfaces, with different shapes for specific applications.
4. Compounds
- Used in wet processes to keep workpieces clean and maintain abrasive effect.
5. Polishing and Grinding Pastes
- Used in dry processing, added to granulate after 4-5 hours of processing.
Additional processing media can be found in the media brochure.

ECO Series-2

The pieces to be finished are placed in a contain -er in a solution of water and soap (compound) together with abrasives and usually an auxiliary agent. A rotating motion of the process container causes a relative motion between work piece and abrasive which creates a material abrasion and thus a surface finishing on the work piece. This toroidal motion creates a very aggressive processing results which is up to 20 times more effective than conventional methods such as polishing drums.
