The OSA 5533C SDU is designed to distribute synchronization references economically and reliably to network elements like switches and multiplexers. It supports up to 48 or 64 outputs and can re-time up to 24 traffic-carrying signals. The unit is suitable for SDH or SONET nodes and supports single or dual inputs with various frequency references.
Holdover FunctionThe Holdover Unit (HOU) ensures continuous output even when inputs are lost, featuring an oven-controlled crystal oscillator with high stability, exceeding ITU-T G.812 SSU (Type III) requirements. It provides hitless input switchover and maintains output phase within specified limits.
Output and Re-timingThe unit can distribute synchronization and re-time traffic signals, eliminating the need for separate equipment. It offers up to 48 output synchronization signals and 24 E1/T1 re-timing channels.
ManagementThe OSA 5533C SDU can be managed locally via RS-232 or remotely through modem/LAN connections and TCP/IP using the SyncViewTM Plus management system.

These often contain a large number of network elements requiring proper synchronization to ensure a smooth network operation with the required quality of service. Further growth results in additional output capacity being required at the network nodes to synchronize the supplementary elements and thus makes it necessary to implement expansion synchronization equipment. To meet this requirement, Oscilloquartz proposes its compact Synchronization Distribution Unit: OSA 5533C SDU.
