Product catalog summary
Overview: The DI-500 is a non-contact laser dial-indicator designed as an add-on to Optodyne's MCV-500 laser calibration system. It enables precise displacement measurements of polished surfaces without mechanical contact, functioning as a high-accuracy mechanical dial-indicator.
Applications: The DI-500 is suitable for measuring spindle run-out at high speeds, assessing the rotational angle accuracy of 5-axis machines, and replacing mechanical straightedges and square-edges with optical equivalents as per ASME standards.
Features and Benefits:
  • Easy setup and operation
  • No mechanical contact required
  • NIST traceable laser accuracy
  • Compact and lightweight design
  • Quick and efficient measurements
  • Versatile and flexible usage
Specifications:
  • Laser stability: 0.1 ppm
  • Linear accuracy: 1 ppm
  • Resolution: 1 microinch (0.01 µm)
  • Measurement range: 40 inches (1000 mm)
  • Data rates: 1 to 1000 data/sec
  • Maximum data points: 10,000 points per record
  • Analog output: 0 to 12 V at 0.234 V/0.001"
Configuration: The system includes components such as a flat-mirror target, optical adapter, focus lens, chrome plated plug gauge, 90-degree beam bender, PC interface card & cable, Windows™ software, and analog output capabilities.
Key Data: The DI-500 can measure spindle runout at 100 RPM over 50 cycles, demonstrating its capability for high-speed precision measurements.

Optodyne's DI-500 non-contact laser dial-indicator is an add-on package to Optodyne'sMCV-500 laser calibration system. The combined system can be used to perform non-contact displacement measurement of a polished surface, such as a flat-mirror or a cylinder. Hence it can be used as a mechanical dial-indicator without mechanical contact and with high accuracy. Typical applications are measuring the spindle run-out at high speed; measuring the accuracy of a rotational angle of a 5-axis machine; replacing a mechanical straightedge by an "optical" straightedge (ASME B5.54 Section 5.8.2.2); replacing...
