High Power Thermal Sensors Overview
This document provides specifications for the Comet series of high power thermal sensors, designed for measuring laser power. The models discussed include Comet 1K, Comet 10K, and Comet 10K-HD, each suited for different power ranges and applications.
Specifications
- Comet 1K: Suitable for powers up to 1kW, with a broadband absorber type and a spectral range of 0.2 - 20 µm. It has an aperture of Ø50mm and a power range of 20W to 1kW.
- Comet 10K: Designed for powers up to 10kW, with a spectral range of 1.06 and 10.6 µm, and an aperture of Ø100mm. The power range is 200W to 10kW.
- Comet 10K-HD: Suitable for high power density beams, with similar spectral range as Comet 10K, but includes a reflective cone beam spreader. It has an aperture of Ø55mm and a power range of 200W to 10kW.
Performance and Accuracy
- Repeatability is ±1% for the same initial temperature, and power accuracy is ±5%.
- Linearity with power is ±2% for Comet 1K and ±2% from 1kW to 10kW for Comet 10K and 10K-HD.
- Maximum average power density and energy density thresholds vary by model and beam diameter.
Operational Features
- Temperature compensation ensures accurate readings regardless of starting probe temperature.
- Maximum permitted probe temperature is 70°C before measurement and 140°C after measurement.
- Display features a 2x8 character LCD, and the unit is CE approved.
- Operation modes include AUTO and MANUAL, with the ability to store the last three readings.
- Battery life is approximately 1 year with normal use, using 2 x AA batteries.
Additional Features
- Comet power pucks measure heat rise from a 10s exposure to laser, with built-in temperature compensation algorithms.
- They support up to 10kW power and apertures up to 100mm.
