High Energy Pyroelectric Sensors

High Energy Pyroelectric Sensors

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document provides technical specifications and features of two high-energy pyroelectric sensors, the PE50-DIF-ER-C and PE100BF-DIF-C, designed for measuring laser energy.
Specifications:
  • Model PE50-DIF-ER-C: Primarily used for 1064nm, 2.1µm, and 2.94µm wavelengths. It features a metallic absorber with a diffuser, an aperture of Ø46mm (diffuser out) and Ø33mm (diffuser in), and a spectral range of 0.19 - 3µm. Calibration accuracy is +/- 3%.
  • Model PE100BF-DIF-C: Suitable for very large apertures with a BF absorber and diffuser. It has an aperture of Ø96mm (diffuser out) and Ø85mm (diffuser in), and a spectral range of 0.15 - 3µm. Calibration accuracy is +/- 4%.
Performance Parameters:
  • Both models support energy scales from 10J to 200µJ, with the PE100BF-DIF-C extending up to 40J to 40mJ.
  • Maximum pulse width settings range from 2µs to 20ms, depending on the model and configuration.
  • Maximum pulse rate is up to 10kHz for the PE50-DIF-ER-C and 5kHz for the PE100BF-DIF-C.
  • Noise on the lowest range varies from 1µJ to 600µJ.
  • Damage threshold varies with pulse duration, with the PE100BF-DIF-C having higher thresholds.
Features:
  • Removable diffusers for flexibility in measurement.
  • Designed for use with newer Ophir meters and PC interfaces for accurate readings.
  • Adjustable user threshold to avoid false triggering in noisy environments.
Recommendations:
  • Use with StarBright, StarLite, Nova II, Vega, or Juno for optimal performance.
  • Avoid using with older Ophir meters and PC interfaces due to potential inaccuracies.

For other settings, the spec is for >10% of full scale or greater than twice the "user threshold", whichever is greater. For use with StarBright, StarLite, Nova II, Vega or Juno. The sensors will operate with older Ophir meters and PC interfaces but do not support the threshold function and may give inaccurate readings with the diffuser in and therefore it is not recommended to use these sensors with older Ophir meters and PC interfaces. The user threshold feature allows adjustment of the internal threshold up to 25% of full scale if desired to avoid false triggering in noisy environments. For further information, see the FAQs on our Website. Notes: (c) With the Laserstar, Pulsar, USBI, Quasar and Nova/Orion with adapter only 2 of the 5 pulse width settings are available. For the PE50-DIF-ER-C, the 30µs and 1ms settings and for the PE100BF-DIF-C, the 1ms and 10ms settings. Furthermore, with the diffuser mounted, the sensor may saturate at lower than the maximum energy in some cases. Therefore it is recommended to use these sensors with the newer meters/PC interfaces.
