Product catalog summary
Reverse Protection Relay APR-S Overview
The APR-S Reverse Protection Relay is designed to detect reverse revolution in three-phase motors due to incorrect wiring. It operates by voltage detection, ensuring the magnetic contactor remains open if power is reversed. The relay is compact, plug-in, and requires no adjustments, functioning independently of load current.
Model Variants
Available models include APR-S for 200/220 VAC, APR-S380 for 380/400 VAC, and APR-S440 for 440 VAC. Each model has specific sockets and mounting brackets for installation.
Specifications
  • Supply Voltage: 3-phase, 200/220 VAC, 380/400 VAC, or 440 VAC.
  • Operating Voltage Range: Varies by model, e.g., 170 to 240 VAC for APR-S.
  • Operate Time: Maximum of 100 ms from power application to motor direction detection.
  • Control Output: Various ratings depending on voltage and power factor.
  • Insulation Resistance: Minimum of 100 MΩ at 500 VDC.
  • Dielectric Strength: 2,000 VAC for 1 minute.
  • Life Expectancy: Mechanical - 1,000,000 operations; Electrical - 100,000 operations.
Operation and Connection
The relay detects forward or reverse phase sequences to control the contactor. Proper wiring is crucial for detecting open phases and ensuring the relay functions correctly. Open-phase detection is limited to specific conditions and models.
Mounting and Accessories
Mounting options include front and back sockets, with specific dimensions and accessories available for secure installation. Proper mounting ensures reliable operation and prevents contact faults.
Safety Precautions
Correct wiring is essential to prevent open phases at startup. The relay cannot detect open phases on the load side. It is not suitable for single-phase applications.
Warranty and Liability
Omron provides a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Limitations include no liability for indirect damages or suitability for specific applications. Users are responsible for ensuring product suitability and compliance with standards.

Reverse Protection Relay APR-S CSM_APR-S_DS_E_3_2 Uses Voltage Detection to Determine Reverse Revolution of Three-phase Motor • Detects motor reversal due to incorrect wiring. • Direction of motor revolution is detected as soon as power is applied to the Relay. If the power is reversed, the magnetic contactor locks in the open state. • The magnetic contactor can also be wired to protect it from being closed in open phase. • Small, plug-in Relay that needs no adjustment. • Uses voltage detection method to operate independently of load current. Specifications ■ Ratings/Characteristics Type Operation • Suppose the motor revolves in the forward direction when the input terminals © ©, and ® of the APR-S are connected, in this sequence, to the power lines. The APR-S Relay turns ON when the phase sequence of the voltage is in the forward direction, that is, when the power lines R, S, and T are energized in this sequence. When the Relay turns ON, terminals © and © conduct, energizing the contactor. If one of the three phases is reversed, the Relay does not turn ON and the contactor is not energized. • To protect the motor from damage due...

Safety Precautions ■ Correct Use • With the APR-S, APR-S380, or APR-S440 an open phase at startup can be prevented only if connections are external and wiring has been performed to detect reverse phase and open phase at startup when the power supply is turned ON. When doing so, use an SE Static Motor Relay. An open phase when the power supply is turned ON can be detected only when it occurs between the APR-S, APR-S380, or APR-S440 and the power supply. An open phase cannot be detected on the load side. • Suppose the motor revolves in the forward direction when the input terminals 6, 4, and 3...
