Material Overview: Fluoroloy® A12 is a proprietary custom PTFE material characterized by its light brown color and non-abrasive nature. It offers excellent wear and heat resistance, making it suitable for both lubricated and non-lubricated surfaces. It is recommended for moderate to high-speed applications against both soft and hard metals, with a working temperature range from -268°C to +288°C (-450°F to +550°F).
Physical Properties: The specific gravity of Fluoroloy® A12 is 1.95, and it has a hardness of 60 Shore D, as per ASTM D792 and ASTM D2240 test methods, respectively.
Mechanical Properties: The material exhibits a tensile strength of 13.8 MPa (2,000 psi) and an elongation of 180%, according to ASTM D1708. Its compressive stress at 1% strain is 6.89 MPa (1,000 psi), and it shows a deformation under load of 3% when tested at 13.8 MPa (2,000 psi) for 24 hours.
Thermal Properties: Fluoroloy® A12 has a thermal conductivity of 0.247 W/m·°C (1.7 BTU·in/hr·ft²·°F) and is non-flammable as per ASTM D635.
Electrical Properties: The volume resistivity is 8.2x1018 Ohm-cm, and the surface resistivity is 6.3x1018 Ohm. The dielectric constant at 1 MHz is 2.4, with a dielectric strength greater than 7.87 MV/m (200 V/mil) and a dissipation factor of 0.015.
Tribological Properties: The coefficient of friction is 0.12, as measured by ASTM D3702.
Notes: All testing is performed at room temperature unless otherwise specified. The values provided are typical and intended for reference only, not for design specifications or quality control. Fluoroloy® is a registered trademark of Omniseal Solutions.
