Overview: The material datasheet provides detailed information about Fluoroloy® A05, a proprietary custom polymer-filled PTFE by Omniseal Solutions. It is characterized by its black color and is not recommended for use against soft metals.
Features & Benefits: Fluoroloy® A05 exhibits excellent wear properties at elevated temperatures, making it superior in dry and poorly lubricated applications. It performs exceptionally well in water and water-based solutions. The material operates effectively within a temperature range of -268°C to +316°C (-450°F to +600°F).
Physical Properties: The specific gravity of the material is 1.92, and it has a hardness of 64 Shore D, as per ASTM D792 and ASTM D2240 test methods, respectively.
Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength is 13.8 MPa (2,000 psi), with an elongation of 170%. The tensile modulus is 586 MPa (85,000 psi), and the compressive stress at 1% strain is 8.96 MPa (1,300 psi). The compressive modulus is 965 MPa (140,000 psi), and deformation under load is 2.4%.
Thermal Properties: The linear coefficient of thermal expansion is 11.6x10-5 mm/mm/°C (6.44x10-5 in/in/°F) in the mold direction and 11.7x10-5 mm/mm/°C (6.50x10-5 in/in/°F) in the cross direction, as per ASTM D696.
Tribological Properties: The coefficient of friction is 0.33, according to ASTM D3702.
Notes: All testing is conducted at room temperature unless specified otherwise. Compression strength is measured at 1% strain, and deformation under load is tested at 13.8 MPa (2,000 psi) for 24 hours. The values provided are typical and intended for reference only, not for design specifications or quality control.
