Overview: The Fluoroloy® A01 is a proprietary custom PTFE material offered by Omniseal Solutions. It is characterized by its white color and compliance with FDA standards. The material is noted for its limited wear resistance, good cryogenic properties, and excellent chemical resistance.
Temperature Range: The working temperature range for Fluoroloy® A01 is from -268°C to +316°C (-450°F to +600°F).
Physical Properties: The specific gravity of the material is 2.16, and it has a hardness range of 50-65 Shore D, as per ASTM D792 and ASTM D2240 test methods, respectively.
Mechanical Properties: The material exhibits a tensile strength of 27.5 MPa (4,000 psi) and an elongation of 300%, tested according to ASTM D1708. The tensile modulus is 386 MPa (56,000 psi), and the compressive stress at 1% strain is 8.27 MPa (1,200 psi), with a compressive modulus of 558 MPa (81,000 psi), as per ASTM D638 and ASTM D695.
Thermal Properties: The linear coefficient of thermal expansion is 13.0x10-5 mm/mm/°C (7.11x10-5 in/in/°F) in the mold direction and 15.2x10-5 mm/mm/°C (8.44x10-5 in/in/°F) in the cross direction, according to ASTM D696.
Tribological Properties: The coefficient of friction is between 0.05 and 0.08, as measured by ASTM D3702.
Testing Conditions: All testing is performed at room temperature unless otherwise specified. Compression strength was measured at 1% strain, and deformation under load was tested at 13.8 MPa (2,000 psi) for 24 hours.
