OMAL ACTUATORS TESTING

OMAL ACTUATORS TESTING

Product catalog summary
Technical Information
This document outlines the testing procedures for OMAL actuators to ensure quality and reliability. OMAL emphasizes the importance of selecting high-quality materials and design choices.

Component Compliancy Test
The Quality Control Department, in collaboration with the production department, conducts systematic tests on every component at set intervals. Factors influencing testing frequency include tolerance types, equipment used, experience level, part importance, production time, process type, and material. Testing equipment is regularly monitored and certified by independent agencies. Special attention is given to parts from subcontractors, checking tolerances, materials, and treatments.

Finished Product Compliancy Test
This test ensures that the final product meets specifications, despite potential assembly errors or equipment faults. All pneumatic actuators undergo 100 cycles and are tested with computerized electro-pneumatic instruments.

Wear Resistance and Reliability Tests
These tests are crucial for product improvement and are conducted under harsh conditions:
  • Wear Resistance Test at High Frequency Cycles with Pressure-Free Actuators: Tests dynamic sealing elements under high-frequency cycles, generating friction and heat. OMAL actuators show no wear or sealing loss even after millions of cycles.
  • Extreme Fatigue Test with Maximum Torque: Tests actuator components under maximum torque and harsh conditions, simulating real applications. Actuators are tested at a cycle every 3 seconds.
  • Wear Resistance Test with Blocked Shaft: Tests the actuator's torque capacity with air at 7 bar, 25% higher than nominal torque. This test evaluates the fatigue resistance of components converting piston motion to shaft rotation. High temperatures are generated, but OMAL actuators withstand millions of cycles at 2 cycles per second.

Conclusions
OMAL actuators are tested under conditions harsher than real applications. Initial cycles with new valves resemble extreme fatigue tests, but conditions ease after approximately 1000 cycles.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION This document describes how OMAL products are tested and checked for quality and reliability before being put on the market. We at OMAL are convinced that quality starts from the selection of the best possible materials and treatments and from every designing choice we make. At OMAL we test: - The quality of each individual component to make sure it complies with all specifications. - The quality of each finished product to make sure it complies with all specifications. - The reliability and wear resistance of our finished products. COMPONENT COMPLIANCY TEST It is the QUALITY...

OMAL ACTUATORS TESTING-4

WEAR RESISTANCE AND RELIABILITY TESTS We consider these tests carried out in a special QC room to be extremely important as they are the most effective way of testing and improving our products. During the tests actuators are randomly selected from our inventory and supplied with room temperature air at 7 bar. Actuators are tested under pretty harsh conditions compared with conditions of real applications. Tests fall into three main groups: 1) WEAR RESISTANCE TEST AT HIGH FREQUENCY CYCLES WITH PRESSURE-FREE ACTUATORS The actuator is pressure-free during this test meant to check all parts subject...
