Overview: The document provides technical specifications and guidelines for the Slim Type STM (Slim Type Machining) tools, focusing on their advantages, coolant supply, and ordering examples. It includes detailed measurements and compatibility information for various tool types and sizes.
Specifications: The document lists dimensions and specifications for different types of STM tools, including Type1, Type2, and Type3. It provides measurements in millimeters for various components such as diameter (D), length (L), and other critical dimensions. The note specifies that the nut outer diameter (O.D.) of STM8 is 19mm.
Coolant Supply: The document emphasizes the importance of proper coolant supply, particularly when using coolant collets. It advises that the tap's square should not remain in the collet's inner diameter (I.D.) to prevent coolant leakage. The document includes ordering examples for tools with and without coolant holes.
Ordering Examples: Several ordering examples are provided, such as CAT40-STM12-90 and BT40-STM12-90, illustrating how to specify tool types and sizes. The examples highlight the importance of selecting the correct model based on the presence or absence of a coolant hole.
Tapping Capacity: The document details tapping capacities for Old JIS Taps and OSG Synchro Taps, listing compatible sizes and models. It includes a range of metric (M) and unified (U) thread sizes, as well as pipe thread (PT) sizes.
Accessories and Tools: Information on accessories such as preset drivers, tool-changing drivers, nuts, and spanners is provided. The document lists specific models and their corresponding sizes, emphasizing the combination of accessories required for optimal tool performance.

Completely sealed Ordering Example CAT40-STM12-90 When central cooland feeding is intended by using the coolant collet, straight shank of the tap must be inserted as deep into the collet so that the tap’s square does not remain in the collet I.D. In case tap’s square is in the collet I.D., coolant may leak from the slits. Always keep the tap’s square part out out the collet’s end face as shown in Fig. 2.
