Overview
The SpydIR® is an advanced infrared sorting system designed to separate various polymers from mixed streams using proprietary technology and sensitive algorithms to identify unique polymer signatures from their infrared spectra. It features NRT’s patented PET Boost™ for enhanced detection of thin-wall, wet, and full-sleeve labeled PET. Unlike other optical sorters, SpydIR® employs In-Flight Sorting® to detect and eject materials in flight, offering a stronger signal, continuous auto-calibration, and eliminating motion-related errors.
Technology
The system utilizes NIR (Near-Infrared) technology for identifying multiple polymer types. In-Flight Sorting® allows for robust signal detection, and the system is equipped with a user-friendly color touch screen control panel. PET Boost™ technology enhances the detection of various PET forms.
Applications
SpydIR® can sort plastics labeled 1-7 in any combination, achieving high purity in sorting clear and light blue PET directly from container streams. It effectively removes polymer contaminants such as PVC, PS, PETG, PLA, PC, PE, PP, and others, and recovers clean PET from residue streams.
Features
The system boasts an industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio, ideal for thin-wall PET, and provides high purity and hit rates through In-Flight Sorting®. It offers flexibility in selecting polymers, high-speed identification with throughput rates over 16,000 lb/hr, low maintenance requirements, and remote diagnostics. Available in widths from 36" to 120".

Overview The SpydIR® is an advanced infrared sorting system that separates numerous selected polymers from a mixed stream. It uses proprietary technology and fast, highly sensitive algorithms to rapidly identify unique polymer “signatures” from their infrared spectra.
