Product catalog summary
Technical Data Sheet Summary: COBRA EPOXY Anti-corrosion Epoxy Primer
Properties: COBRA EPOXY is a high-quality anti-corrosion epoxy primer designed for professional use. It offers excellent adhesion to black steel, galvanized steel, and aluminum, providing superior protection for car bodies. It can be overcoated with additional layers without sanding after curing for approximately 3 hours at 20°C. The primer is light grey, offering excellent hiding power for a uniform background.
Related Products: COBRA EPOXY HARDENER is used in conjunction with the primer.
Substrates: Suitable for steel, old paint coatings, polyester putties, aluminum, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and polyester laminates, with specific preparation methods for each.
VOC Content: The actual VOC content is 539 g/l, compliant with EU Directive 2004/42/CE.
Mixing Ratio: The volume and weight ratio for mixing COBRA EPOXY with its hardener is 1:1 and 100:57, respectively.
Application Conditions: Recommended application temperature is above 15°C with humidity below 80%. Use a nozzle size of 1.2 - 1.4 mm and pressure of 1.7 - 2.2 bar. Apply 2-3 layers with a single dry layer thickness of 25-35 µm. Flash-off time between layers is 0-10 minutes at 20°C.
IR Drying: Start IR heating 10 minutes after the last layer, with a drying time of 10-20 minutes depending on lamp type and power.
Curing Times: At 20°C, curing takes 3 hours, and at 60°C, it takes 25 minutes.
Sanding: Dry sanding with P360-P500 and wet sanding with P600-P1000.
Coatability: Compatible with all Cobra Protective Coatings and NOVOL acrylic primers and topcoats. Additional layers can be applied after curing, with a maximum chemical activity time of 48 hours at 20°C.
Equipment Cleaning: Use THIN 860 epoxy thinner.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry place away from fire and heat sources, avoiding direct sunlight. Shelf life is 24 months at 20°C for both COBRA EPOXY and its hardener.
Safety: Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety information.
Additional Information: Accurate dosing of components is crucial for optimal primer performance. The document provides specific weight quantities for mixing different volumes.
