“MOULDS CLEANING” Cleaning your Moulds is now easy with NOVATEC Ultrasonic Systems The quality of mould cleaning is of primary importance, since it reflects on the quality of your moulded products. Inadequate cleaning will cause many rejects with consequent economic losses. In some cases acid spraying is used, in others the moulds are sand-blasted with glass beads, but these treatments, in the long run, damage or wear the mould surfaces, which must be re-built. Alternatively, alkaline solutions are used, requiring long immersion times (3-4 hours) and yet not with optimal results; in fact a final manual brushing is normally required. NOVATEC has a better solution for your problems, using ultrasonic activation in suitable chemical baths. The primary advantages are the elimination of mould wear, savings in labour costs and a reduction of chemicals consumption. A typical complete moulds-cleaning installation consist of 3 to 6 tanks, depending on kinds of application: 1 - Immersion tank, with alkaline detergent solution, activated by ultrasonic, where soils and other contaminants are lifted from the surfaces under treatment. 2 - Rinse tank, with water at 40° C, activated by u ltrasonic, where all residues of dirt and cleaning solutions are dispersed even in deep recesses. This operation is effective only with ultrasonic. 3 - Rinse tank, with cold water (ambient temperature), where traces of contaminated water are washed away, while the moulds are cooled down. 4 - Immersion tank, with acid solution, where surfaces are de-oxidised. 5 - Cold water rinse (which can be executed in tank nr. 3). 6 - Drying tank, with de-watering oil, where water is displaced, leaving surfaces dry and protected from oxidation. The alkaline- and acid-solution tanks are to be kept under ventilation (external or integral) in order to exhaust vapours outside the workshop. NOVATEC S.R.L.
