normet FOR TOUGH JOBS TamCem 8BFGSet Retarding, Plasticising Admixture TamCem 8BFG is a special plasticiser/retarder for TBM backfill grouts and some concrete applications. It is a nonchloride liquid admixture formulated to give high water reduction, greater workability and extended open time to concrete and cementitious grouts. It is compatible with all cements meeting recognised international standards. It complies with the requirements of EN 934-2 and ASTM C 494 for Type B retarding admixtures. TamCem 8BFG extends the hydration process by retarding both initial and final set times and enhances strength through cement particle dispersion. In TBM backfill grouts the setting and hydration control can be regulated using sodium silicate accelerators such as with TamShot 10SS. APPLICATION GUIDELINES Dosage can be adjusted to meet the mix design requirements or to specific job site conditions. Trial concrete or grout mixes must be carried out to determine the appropriate dosage. An independent dispenser and feed line must be used during the application. TamCem 8BFG can be added to the mixed concrete or into the mixing water but addition to any dry concrete mix is not recommended. Typical dosage is 0.4 to 1.5% of cementitious binder content. Should application conditions require a higher dosage rate, consult your local Normet representative. Note: TamCem 8BFG should not be used with any other company's admixtures. Technical advice should be obtained from your local Normet representative regarding compatibility with other Normet Admixtures prior to use. The product must be stored in sealed stainless steel or plastic tanks in the temperature range 5 to 30°C. If these conditions are maintained then a shelf life of one year can be expected. TamCem 8BFG should only be used as directed. We always recommend that the Safety data sheet is carefully read prior to application of the material.
