The StrataMelt™ injection molding screw combines the simplicity and economy of a conventional single-stage screw with the benefits of intensive but low-shear mixing. The geometry of the feeding, melting, and metering zones is optimized for specified materials.
The mixing action is provided by the patented StrataBlend® II mixer, which features cut-through melt channels allowing backflow for intensive chaotic mixing with low shear and negligible temperature rise. The design also promotes positive pumping, enhancing self-cleaning performance during color and resin changeover.
