Overview: The Xaloy® Fusion™ screw is designed to enhance production and product quality in injection molding and extrusion processes. It combines barrier screw technology with a low shear metering section to achieve chaotic mixing, reduced melt temperatures, and improved throughput.
Specifications: The screw is available in diameters ranging from 1.5” to 10”. It is suitable for processing materials such as ABS, PP, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE, PET, and PLA.
Processes: The screw can be used in injection molding, blown film, sheet extrusion, blow molding, profile, and pipe processes. For other applications, custom screw design recommendations are available.
Design and Functionality: The screw utilizes a barrier design technology that separates melted polymer from unmelted resin, protecting the melt from additional shear. The homogeneity of the melt is achieved in a short metering section, followed by final melting through a second barrier section designed for chaotic mixing.
Performance Benefits: The Fusion™ screw increases production, improves product quality, lowers melt temperature, and reduces drive motor load. It demonstrates power efficiency, processing more than 10 lb/hr/hp due to efficient use of available horsepower.
